The fans on the whole I imagine won’t be happy initially with a rookie but who else out there is there? Probably the best experienced/successful and possibly would come is Kenny Jacket and that says it all about what’s currently available.

Its a coach that we are looking for, not a a manager.

I know Durham but it shows even IF u include managers it’s slim pickings at best. I wouldn’t even say classing it as a head coach will put everyone off, a lot of managers are good coaches too, even Pep won’t spend that much time on the recruitment, it’s getting more club run nowadays than manager run.

Whenever we go into this cycle of new manager we always have the same old names being mentioned. Amazes me how many times we’re tied with whoever every time.

Last time the owners went total left field and no one at all suspected Burchnall.
Not doing the whole Burchnall argument again, but ultimately we haven’t gained promotion with him so can’t been deemed a success imo.
Will that be enough for the brothers to turn to a more traditional Notts appointment? Not a chance.
As Cher said, a bit of pragmatism would help, but can’t see it.
It’ll be someone like Tisdale who, before two weeks ago, no one had heard of at all.
Let’s hope whoever it is, the ultimate judgement of success being promotion, is successful.

But please cut some of the tippy tappy rubbish out until we’re challenging at the top of the Premiership!

Hopefully, it all works out well in the end, but this being Notts - well, you know.
Nearly right about Tisdale's lack of first team coaching /management experience BUT he did actually stand in for Mark Robins, when Robins had Covid: matches against Hull, Wgan & Peterborugh

I think the owners have made things unnecessarily difficult for themselves by holding on to a specific set of values and presumably only choosing from a small group of prospective employees who reflect those values. That strikes me as a bit inflexible tbh.

Also, the player recruitment model will disuade potential managers from applying, reducing the pool further.

I respect the owners and like how they go about running the club on the whole, but it may well take a degree of pragmatism to get us out of this division. Hopefully they can show that.
The specific ideas they have about recruitment and the role of the head coach should put any self-respecting manager off altogether. I'd be amazed if someone like Askey, who has enjoyed success as a manager on multiple occasions, would be willing to take on what is essentially a reduced role. I would imagine he was among the odds just because of internet rumours. Williamson (the Gateshead one) too.

In reality, it seems certain they'll employ someone who has spent most of their career as a coach, not a manager. So basically someone with little to no experience of managing senior teams or winning promotion. But we'll see.

The issue is who can we get that has managed full time senior teams at a reasonable level and got a couple of promotions or more? I would say Askey is the closest.
