Some of us are trying to but the toadying, "we're too poor" brigade keep stopping us.

Why don't those who wish they were a part of England move there?

Talking down Scotland. It's what unionists do.

"Nobody in the UK will be paying 215% more for energy due to the various mitigations introduced by the UK Government although one can debate whether they have done enough. You can also debate whether the relief should have been much better targeted at the poorer households than it has been, and let the better off households eat into their disposable income/savings more as they can afford it."

For the avoidance of doubt, let me be clear on where I stand on UK Government support. I suspect that they have (or intend to) thrown enough money at the issue, it is just targeted completely wrong. It is just utterly ridiculous that in the announcement last week they are providing the same level of support per house regardless of whether it is a family of four with one working earning the average wage of £29,000 or a family of four where there are two people working earning say £150,000 between them. Much more money should go to those that need it and frankly the taxpayer should not be subsidising people who can afford to pay the extra costs themselves.

Where you draw the line between those that get help and those that don't need it are for people with more knowledge than me to figure out but as a point of principle and in a world where we are desperately short of funding public services, taxpayers money needs to be much better managed by Governments. Same applies in Scotland where it is frankly ludicrous that wealthy people receive free prescriptions/University places/dentists etc.
OK thank you for that, As I said in my OP it was something I read and asked ..is there a reason for this ? does anyone know ?, You duly replied. I should have given that reply a bit more regard instead of launching into a rant ! So apologies to your good sel and the board for that. But I will not backpedal on my "UK Bashing" they deserve every bash.

No doubt you were set to move until Brexit ruined it.

Well, let's face it, Brexit has ruined it for us, our children and our children's children.

All to play some infantile game of Empire.

The only way out of this is to dump the f'uckin English barbarians and rejoin the cultured life that is belonging to the EU.

Hardly a unionist just think people who complain about the UK have all had the chance to leave but haven’t. See you got your computer time in the institution today.
