It'll probably lift house prices in that area, although a loss of 800 jobs might also lower them. I was looking recently on Rightmove and saw a house that looked an absolute bargain but didn't state exactly where it was except for Old Bawtry Road. When I looked on the map I saw why it was so cheap, it was almost on the runway.

I used it 3-4 times a year, actually can't use it later on in the year as it will be closed by then. Now awaiting an email to tell me to reselect something else.

The whole saga reminds me of the argument you get about closing libraries. Folks want them to stay open but don’t go in them

Same with DSA, Tui fly out of there and Wizzair.

Yes some use those services but Jet 2 and others won’t fly out of there so for your average holiday it’s pay the higher prices of Tui or fly from Leeds Bradford or East Midlands to get the better deals

Wizzair pulled out of DSA because the landing charges were too high for the budget airline to operate viably.
Apparently the high costs imposed by Peel for using DSA are also the reason other airlines do not use the airport.
It does make you wonder whether this was a deliberate strategy aimed at making a closure decision inevitable so they could pursue their objective of building on the land as happened at Sheffield.

Good…. That’s further south than Rotherham
