This season signings have been really poor expect Humphries. We fetched in 2 strikers that have failed in this league already that are coming to end of their careers, Eaves on a 3 year deal just crazy. Too many old heads at the with no pace.

For us to sign anybody a number of criteria have to be met amongst which are transfer fees, agents fees and wages. That reduces the number of possible targets considerably.

Add to that the “ human being” factor and the number decreases further

Then we had what might have been the killer factor “ we all have to agree” We never really found out who that “ we” was but the more people involved in the decision the harder it gets.

So that leaves us with a small number of possible signings with the ticking clock of the transfer window, first choices become second choices then third choices etc

So we end up with the signings we have now, none of them really suited to the league we are in.

Or you could have a single guy manager working with the same budget making the decisions and end up with players that are not suitable to the league we are in. Some managers could make this call brilliantly and you would end up with players signed within the budget that would keep us comfortably in the championship.

But why would such a manager be working for Rotherham?

400k is our record for ladepo and it hasn't been bettered in what 3/4 years.

400k in the championship is a joke.

Nevermind a record signing who doesn't even play for you anymore
You would prefer to buy better than who we have. Feel free to contribute.
How much was ogbene, barlaser, rathbone, Viktor. Would it make you feel better if we had paid a million for each.
Easy spending other folks money and don't give me TS had the chance to take on investors or its TS job to fund the club. It's pure greeting wanting what you don't have. Geez why are glass half empty folk always wanting more

I disagree on saying both strikers have failed. Tbh I'm not a massive fan of Washington but I wouldn't deem him a failure. His workrate and the 2 goals he has scored are on par with what most of the squad has done.
Smith was deamed a failure in the championship after scoring 5 goals. He then Scores 20 plus goals in league 1, we get promotion and everyone is telling TS to push the boat out and extend his contract. If Washington carries on he will score more goals than Smith did. Eaves on the other hand,. Wow. We have him for 3 years. Really

Above average your having a laugh
You should have used Sunderland as a example. 10 million on a Tottenham player plus 3 undisclosed fees for West ham, Berlin, arsenal players and 3 loans from psg, man u and Everton...

Oh wait,. They are below is in the league. Not a great example hmmmmmm

    I agree

Could it be possible that higher offers were made but the players concerned were not interested to come to Rotherham?

Or Rob Scott identified some higher value players but Paul Warne's committee didn't want them?

    We will never know

Probably, you can’t force players to sign. An example being Lewis Grabban, an excellent player at this level, albeit towards the end of his career, he wouldn’t have been cheap but he declined us straight away this summer before we even got as far as offering him anything.

Paul Warne signed the best players he could get with the budget he had out of the players who were willing to come. If he’d been able to get better ones then he would’ve. Every manager at every club signs the best he can get and they would all sign better players if they could.

Just for clarification, it wasn't Paul Warne's transfer committee. That idea came from Tony Stewart and the number of people involved in making a decision was something of a frustration for PW.
