Humphreys doesn't look an athlete to me. I can't work it out we must just be looking at profiles of players we can afford not seeing them play often enough otherwise we wouldn't have signed half of players we signed this summer. I know we work to a budget but you don't sign players almost ready for retirement or simply not up to championship level.

To me. Humphreys is a continental style defender. Never rushed,. Prefers to carry the ball rather than hoof it, even under pressure.

Yet PW said “ we all have to agree”, no real indication that he was frustrated about it

I'm not a fan. Academy player at Man C then played in a nondescript league somewhere in Europe wouldn't attract me to signing him.

Championship football is faster. Not slower European football.

Non descript league? Some great players have come from both the Belgian and Dutch leagues where humphrys plied his trade. You really are a complete Whopper and need to read up about football before commenting.

Agreed Grist, there is no evidence that PW was unhappy with the recruitment process, in fact his interviews came across as if he was supportive of a group decision process. Seems to me that some on here want to protect the PW image no matter what by re-writing history. He did a very good job for us in L1 (that is why Derby recruited him), the squad of players at Rotherham United are a PW squad, to say they are not is rose tinted madness, he was in charge for 6 years!!!. I think we would all agree that PW and previous managers were frustrated with the budgetary limits imposed, the counter to that is our club has financial stability, our players get paid and we don't have to sell the family silver to keep the lights on.

In addition there’s no real evidence that a higher budget wasn’t available. It could have been there but not used

You only need to watch a player for 90 seconds, don't you? Or a least that was your claim.
