We absolutely could find better in January, but until then he should be there purely to allow the others to play and to break up the opposition attacks

I’d have replaced him with sibbald earlier to do exactly the same job, just hopefully better. IT wasnt like hè was making tactical fouls, they were just because hè was too slow to get to balls hè should have been getting to. Think djoum Will cost us against better opponents. Hè might come good if hè is just not up to speed yet, but im not convinced hè can be converted into the holding/def mid we Need.

He can score the odd goal and was a great penalty taker. Watt and Fletcher are 1st choice centre Forwards and both better than Clark for what they bring to the team. Sadat for our goal at Ibrox was excellent and he looked good that day. Hasn't had too many chances in a very unsettled team.
What evidence do you provide to convince me that Watt and Fletcher are a marked improvement over Clark? I saw a player over the last 2 seasons having to play second fiddle to Mark McNulty(does he have club btw?), played out of position to "do a job for the team" and was still top scorer! Its little wonder he was pish at the end, but maybe that should read pissed off!

At least now we have a comparison where its all square between him and Fletcher just now!

I kind of know what you mean but it was worth the risk. 😂

Djoum wants the ball to bounce 3 times before he plays it. Then when it finally gets low enough for him to consider playing it there's an opponent on him. Hopefully he'll improve but right now he doesn't look to be what we needed. He did ok last night overall but can't afford that against better teams than Killie.

Well for a start Fletchers head flick lead to a goal last night. Clark's first touch was often a throw in. He's having a honeymoon with the Farmers, fair do's.

Clark and McNulty v Watt and Fletcher, no contest. As long as Watt plays central with Fletcher not wide. As I've been saying for years it's all about the midfield service and getting runners in behind defences. On the occasions we've won this season that's what we've done.

Fletcher just did what he should have done last night, but maybe Clark would have been the Middleton and scored, or even McGrath who also flicked on and scored.

And you are right there is no contest! McNulty was sh!te for 2 seasons barring turning up v Aberdeen in the cup(Clark involved in all goals). Watt came to us off the back of 11 goals, has only scored 4 and has generally been a disappointment, but i think i can make a defence for him similar to Clark, ie oot o position and joab for the team! But Watt wasnt on the park last night and look what happened.

However, when we are down to Fletcher and Clark, still there is no contest as they are totally different players who i believe would have complemented each other if they had the chance, but we will never know! One thing Clark did for us and is doing for St Johnstone is scoring important goals to win and draw games.

Clark was our top scorer for 3 of the 4 seasons he was here.

Just have a look back on DUTV the evidence is there. I watched most of Clarkes games for us throughout his time. Watt played a few games as centre foward recently and looked better in both games than Clark ever has for us. . If you think Clark is better than them that's fine but I think he was part of one our most powederpuff forward lines in recent memory. I dont think hes terrible he just lacks the physical attributes. We look better with him out the team.

Clark is average at best but has hit a wee bit of a goalscoring purple patch so now he's suddenly a player that's missed by us? He might have been top goalscorer for us in 3 of his 4 seasons but he still only scored 31 goals for us in 114 games over those 4 seasons so taking into account that a third or so of those goals were probably penalties???then he averaged around 5 goals a season in open play?.....

It's quite sad nowadays that we are talking about missing bang average players like Clark and Butcher but that's where we are at just now unfortunately.

We were missing Butcher miles more than Clark, no doubt in my mind. We have decent forwards, be nice if they scored now and again though. 4 goals on Wednesday, one from a forward.
