I too saw Langstaff's jumping up and down in frustration, he could have done it more as he was regularly on the shoulders of their defender, running left and right and waving for the ball which rarely came to him.

Pleased to see Chesterfield get bounced yesterday, couldn't happen to a nicer club.
I think Wrexham have a clear advantage over us when playing teams who park the bus. Wrexham don’t need to rely on playing well as they have scoring options from throw ins and set pieces. We don’t have that option. Not a criticism as it’s the way we play, but they have more scoring options than us.

Yet they’ve scored no more goals than us albeit playing one game less. I don’t think we can do anything else if they are going to sit back for literally 85 mins. What are Wrexham going to do different other than long throws? Theres not much point going long as there going sit back at eat it up and IF you win the second ball somewhere around the edge of the box it’s no different to us getting there by passing as their already sat deep anyway. That said I would have liked to see a couple of balls clipped over for Langstaff, the only issue the ball and the run has to be perfect with them sitting deep.

We have scored a similar number of goals. My point remains that they score theres in a number of different ways which includes throw ins and set pieces. We simply don’t have that option when needed. You won’t have to go back far to see we have drawn games whilst Wrexham have won games late, normally via a scrappy set piece.
It doesn’t happen often but the few times we have struggled we haven’t had an option to change it up, hence the draws.
This is why I believe it’s imperative we get a big man who can come on up front when plan A doesn’t work.

Wrexham are definitely better set up to deal with very defensive sides as they’ve got such a big aerial threat, so inviting crosses against them is suicidal really. We don’t have that, and it’s harder to pick your way through a massed defence then use the brute force approach.

Swings and round abouts, though. I think we’re much better suited to winning games where the opposition have a go and open up, because we’re extremely good at moving the ball quickly into space through the lines. It’s why their home record is amazing and our away record is amazing.
