Hmmm, that not QUITE true though is it Stefan?

I clicked onto the link and found out that a passport or driver's licence will be perfectly acceptable to vote with which I'm pretty sure that most 18+ers would have either one or the other, what's the political term again "Economical with the truth"?

I do not doubt that the holders of driving licences and passports will be allowed to vote when they present such documents at a polling station. My point is that young people are less likely to have a driving licence / passport than those over 45 years old. The older that you are the more likely it will be that you will have experienced foreign travel, so fewer people under 45 will hold passports than young people. Given the UK economy since 2010 it is probable that fewer young people can afford to even contemplate buying a car, so they will not have driving licences. The most blatant electoral discrimination is that a Senior Citizens Oyster Card is valid for voting purposes but an 18+ Oyster Card is not valid. This is blatant electoral discrimination.

The over 45 people largely vote Tory, the under 45 people largely vote Labour.

So Chalky, what I state is true. This legislation is biased towards allowing Tories to vote and suppressing the Labour vote. Merely stating that there are documents that allow you to vote does not cut it. A significant proportion of the under 45 year olds will not have these documents.

For the sake of democracy everyone should apply to the local authority in order to get a Voter Authority Certificate, regardless of what other documents you have. You absolutely can vote vote if you have this. There can surely be no argument whatsoever against this.

Only bigoted Tories can have any objection to this 'fair play for all' attitude.

Even Frank has no point to make against this being seen as electoral discrimination, he merely makes a different but still invalid response.
