Its been getting away with murder for years. Most of that lot, are still sat on their arses at home.

ITV News has spoken to several people who have worked with Mr Raab throughout his career from being a backbench MP to a junior minister and Secretary of State

    Among the testimonies were:

A former ministry of justice official who said, "He was the most difficult minister I've ever had to work with. He saw the system as the enemy rather than as a team of people to be led and directed. There wasn't the sense you were in the same team and I can see how this led to frustration."

Another former colleague, from a previous role held by Mr Raab, argued that he turned the office into "a happy, productive place to a miserable hole." They added, "Not all bullies scream - they are sarcastic, demeaning and controlling."

But others denied Mr Raab is a bully, insisting he simply had high standards. One told ITV News he was kind, organising events for staff like joke Christmas awards and a summer barbecue each year, branded the "Raab-ecue".

Mr Raab himself has maintained he has always had excellent relationships with civil servants across government and has always acted with professionalism and integrity.

He has also pointed out that after complaints were made, he was the one to immediately request an independent inquiry.
Funny how I don't really need to read your post, to know what it will contain. Basically a repeat of the falsehoods spewed out by the likes of Gb news and The express to con those who are gullible enough and with no knowledge of the reality, or ability to analyse the truth of what's been said. You really do seem to be an authoritarian governments wet dream , believe anything that accords with your own narrow views!

The civils service have been "getting away with murder for years"? I assume you have some actual evidence to back this statement up?

I presume you think if one works from home one isn't working? Mm amazing how many private companies don't accord to that view, so wonder who I believe?

Some people said he was a bully and gave evidence of his intimidating, and aggressive behaviour and others said he was a nice man. Yup that sounds about right, I understand Fred West laid a nice patio and could be very charming!

Simply had high standards? Mm this is the minister who during the crisis in Afghanistan, thought it appropriate for him to continue his holiday that sounds like a minister on top of his brief! That plus the fact he has not achieved anything in any of the ministerial positions he holds suggests he is like a lot of them out of his depth and unfit for the role his mate had put him into - you see that's the problem with promoting mates as a favour, if they can't actually do the job it spells trouble.

Yes he did request the investigation, actually a minister has no choice in the matter when such complaints are made, its in the code of conduct.

I do smile when on the one hand in other posts you complain this incompetent government has failed to implement Brexit properly, yet in the same breath seem to be implying that because they say something its automatically true.

In fact as the evidence shows, with this government, they habitually lie and mislead people.

The fact is two of the complaints were proven and he had no choice but to go, the rest of his childish whining makes the average "woke" snowflake look quite strong and tolerant by comparison!

Whereas the opinion of the follow up report by the Sunshine Band is far more disposed to the Raab position, pleading Please Don't Go, Ain't Nothin Wrong.

Can’t pretend to feel any sympathy for Raab. Nor do I understand why he should be given any credit for going.
He’s one of a long list, including the last but one PM, who have/are costing the public purse a fortune while lining the pockets of assorted KC’s.
So, he was found guilty of ‘only’ two charges of bullying. Well that’s all right then. Would we feel so forgiving of a robber or a murderer who having been charged on five counts was only found guilty of two? I think not.
He was Justice Secretary for goodness sake. To have a Justice Secretary who acts unjustly is no more acceptable than having a Brexit Secretary who didn’t understand the importance of the Dover/Calais route...and guess what? Raab again!

Either way, it would seem to offer further proof that ‘careless’ appears a very suitable adjective to describe the current Tory Party...Raab was, I believe, the 39th Cabinet minister to have been ‘lost’ since Cameron took the reins in 2010 and that doesn’t include the four PM’s who’ve resigned over the same period.

Lol...oh dear, I see you’ve got out of the wrong side of the bed again. There is little on here more tiresome GP than you, being hopelessly unable to construct a counter argument, just ineptly decrying those of us who express a valid and on topic opinion.

Arrrrrrrrrh the customary patronising post, I have missed so much.

The civil service? MMMMMMM, lets look at that.

The civil service is a collective term for a sector of government composed mainly of career civil servants hired rather than appointed or elected, whose institutional tenure typically survives transitions of political leadership. A civil servant, also known as a public servant, is a person employed in the public sector by a government department or agency for public sector undertakings. Civil servants work for central and state governments, and answer to the government, not a political party.

Theres a key sentence in there, that you and the civil service seem to dislike.

When a ruling body or boss says jump, the only pause should be "how high"?

I am no fan of Raab, but if he is right and the tail is wagging the dog we have a problem.

Lets look at it from what I know.
When running a production floor, I set the rules of how we do it/ the standards/ how quickly/ manning levels. That's my job and scrutinised by directors.
When a slecective few decide to deviate from that, they upset the whole apple cart.
So, it will very start with a few "hard stares", raising to some "shouting" and if that doesn't work, the disciplinary procedure comes into it.
It seems to me, the civil service either has the spine of a jelly fish/ a hidden agenda/ or out of control as to who pulls its strings.

If that was the worst of Raabs crimes, then something needs looking at fast.
During covid, the civil service was allowed to work from home and not risk breaking / spreading covid. Since the lifting, they have in the main been very hestitant to return to full time office work.
You can find that anywhere before you start as well.
Standards and delivery times have plummetted. Which I would expect from anyone not being monitored over a working period.
Yes home working helps across the board. But proper productivity levels? Nah, sorry aint happening. Its like telling RA to do his last job from home and teach a class via video.
It is never as productive as him and his pupils being there.

NB, for your info. All politicians lie and mislead people. I could go on all day about that.
The current hillarity, is Sir Softy having a go at Sunak over being soft on criminals.
Perhaps forgetting that he was complicit in preventing the deportation of 41 time served hard criminals, who went on to reoffend in some of the most horrible ways.

His whining , as you call it, needs investigating. Because if true, the very core of getting things done is up **** creek.

I think, with respect Tricky, you may be missing the point.
I completely accept that there are certain jobs - yours, mine (when we had them), doctors, nurses, all production line and transport workers amongst them - which clearly can’t be done from home.

From my own experience of having four children and their four partners all in full time employment I know that three of them have worked from home for the vast majority of the time since 2020, and very productive it appears to have been too, allowing them to achieve far more during a working day not least because the time and expense of travelling, apparent unnecessarily, to an office has been removed from the equation.
For the other five, who are involved in a collection of people centred or production based activities, of course they cannot work from home, but I suspect many civil servants fall into the former category and can work very effectively from home.

As for ‘when a ruling body or boss says jump, the only pause should be ‘how high?’ I think, and hope, those days have gone. I’m all in favour of strong leadership but it surely has to be fair and reasonable if instruction is to be adhered to.
