Total compensation paid out equates to 3.5% of total budget and this dosent appear to be the cost of fighting the claims.......just about all are fought but a payment is made in 99% of cases.

I am not surprised about this.
The bosses at the Countess of Chester NHS Trust which employed Nurse Letby would not believe their consultants because they did not want bad publicity.
The main problem in the NHS is that staff are not allowed to whistleblow.
My brother who died in January 2016 aged 56 could still be alive if staff in the NHS were allowed to whistleblow.
An investigation which was published in 2007 results of which could have saved my brother’s life was ‘swept under the carpet’ by health secretaries in both Westminster and Holyrood.
