    Sometimes you hear a stat

    That just staggers you.

There's a clinical claim against the NHS every 40 mins

Total compensation paid out equates to 3.5% of total budget and this dosent appear to be the cost of fighting the claims.......just about all are fought but a payment is made in 99% of cases.

Clap clap clap, bang saucepan lid

I am not surprised about this.
The bosses at the Countess of Chester NHS Trust which employed Nurse Letby would not believe their consultants because they did not want bad publicity.
The main problem in the NHS is that staff are not allowed to whistleblow.
My brother who died in January 2016 aged 56 could still be alive if staff in the NHS were allowed to whistleblow.
An investigation which was published in 2007 results of which could have saved my brother’s life was ‘swept under the carpet’ by health secretaries in both Westminster and Holyrood.

7 doctors/ surgeons/ consultants had to apologize to nurse for whistle blowing. 😳

And we still have our own ongoing scandal in Tayside with our own rogue surgeon.

Family member was operated on by him thankfully no I'll effects but remember a nurse telling said family member he was "the best in the bizness"......yeah

Absolute disgrace that consultants had to apologise and continue working with someone (Letby) they strongly suspected, or even knew, was killing babies in their care.

However, if they were that certain why didn't they go to the police immediately instead of calling for an internal investigation? They know the senior management are guilty of covering up so just can't be trusted, is it at the stage where they just have to accept that mistakes will be covered up and move on to find the next one to ignore?

Should there be a police presence in every hospital designated as the confidential point of contact for whistle blowers?

Whistleblowers subject themselves to years of unemployment even unemployable for years.

Wheels of justice turn very slowly.....and sometimes said whistleblower isn't proved correct for years.....decades

Rotherham grooming scandal and female detective who exposed it.....perfect example.

Covered up , her career ruined and smeared as a racist, islamaphobic lunatic

Maggie Oliver deserves name check rather than the female detective.

I read the two page article in last Sunday’s Sunday Times newspaper about the Nurse Letby scandal with the consultants having to send letters to her apologising for doubting her professional judgment.
The article stated that a fellow nurse reckoned that Letby was being picked on by the consultants.
It would interesting to hear what this nurse now has to say about Nurse Letby’s actions.

Sadly it happens all the time in the NHS, Government, Local authorities and even private companies.
People who are incompetent or have been caught covering things up either get promotion or are given a ‘deal’ to leave while signing a Non Disclosure Agreement. (NDA).
Dame Alison Rose who was forced to resign as the Chief Executive of Nat West for spilling the beans about Nigel Farage’s banking details as a Coutts Bank customer to a BBC boss is receiving a payoff of £2.4 million.
Amazingly she is working her 12 months notice period which is very unusual.
Normally people receive their pay in lieu of notice and they are escorted off the premises.
