Many good points to look back on against a top Champ side - as said before, our front line looks toothless - barely 10-15 goals per season amongst them. Next few days crucial in terms of recruitment - if it's a miss we may have too much ground to make up after January - I hope not

MT saying up to 3 players he'd like to bring in before the end of this transfer window. We've got Odoffin Lindsay to return in midfield so not a priority there. A forward on the way up with enough goals in him a centre back who could cover right back a recognised left back they are. We played some good stuff yesterday just needs adding to that & I'm confident we'll climb the table.

I ask for effort and desire and that’s what I got yesterday.
We went toe to toe with them and almost got rewarded with a point which would’ve been fair.

We looked most dangerous and effective when Leicester tried to play out from the back and we pressed. There was almost a case of just booting it out for a goal kick and then penning them in.

I was surprised how quiet 2200 Leicester fans were. Didn’t hear them until they went 2-1 up.

I can remember in 1981 both of us coming up from the third division and I'm sure Rotherham played Norwich City who'd just come down from the old First Division on the opening day of the season and you smashed em 4-1 .

We played them a week later at Carrow Road and got a comfortable point .

There was none of this nonsense with parachute payments back then and the league was way fairer for everybody .

Lets remember both of their goals were mistakes by us, we did very well to get back into the game. The ref was better, however like all premier league refs at this level he let their players referee the game, this is NOT GOOD refereeing, however it will get him back into the Premier league. Dewsbury-Hall was brilliant as a player, but he is not a good referee and yet throughout the game every decision he was at the ref, a strong ref would have booked him for his dive in his own penalty area and made it clear that he wouldn't tolerate them in his face all game. The disallowed goal was terrible decision, it was Faes that got that overturned.
As good as we played, and we were very good for large parts of the game, we had 1 shot on target and they had 7, our front-line is very, very weak and I think we need two forwards this week, I know we won't get them. Hugill, moans and complains too much, if he spent as much time playing as moaning, he might actually score a goal or at least be able to get an effort on target. We showed some real quality, but the depth of squad destroyed us. Football isn't a fair playing field, it hasn't been for years, but it is getting worse, parachute payments should be to support the EFL not individual teams and should be distributed based on an independent assessment of how well a club runs its finances, that would transform the way clubs are run in the EFL and the Premier league. However, I think MT made some big substitute mistakes yesterday, that made us weaker than we needed to be. Leicester had made their 2 big changes before we had to change our midfield. Tiehi had to come off but Rathbone could have stayed on for the extra 10 mins. We could have brought on Morrison for Tiehi and changed the formation which they wouldn't have expected. Cafu could have gone deeper and central mid and allowed Bramall and dexter to push up a bit, therefore pushing their wide players back, if one of those was too tired Bola could have replaced them. We only had to hold out for 10 mins but putting on Kayode and McGuckin made us basically a 9-man team and vastly reduced the experience on the pitch, the subs were the wrong call. If Morrison club captain can't play 10 mins at this level and bring something to the party on £10k a week he shouldn't be at the club.

The officials just can’t do the job without being bias, if there’s a foul or offside then fair enough but if ref isn’t blowing and Lino not flagging then it’s another cheat or did they forget they’ve not got VAR in championship

Yes the subs make us weaker

Mcguckin didn't bring him on should have done instead of Kayode. Why take Green off? looked better played on the left 2nd half. Another bad decision yesterday cost us for what should have been opening goal kicking us again while we're down there!

    Firstly a couple of disclaimers.

I very rarely get to see the Millers live, due to work. Managed about 6 or 7 last season, mainly away.
Possibly Huddersfield, will be first one this.
So I can't really talk about specifics of games only a wider perception.

Secondly I,'m very much a natural born " a pessimist is never disappointed " kind of bloke.

However, having seen the reports and brief highlights this season and reading things on here.
It doesn't feel all doom and gloom to me, if we get some depth in as many others have already pointed out,.
When it comes round to playing some of the "weaker" teams we might just start racking some points up, hopefully.

It seems like certainly, the first 11 is cutting it against pretty stiff opposition, and in fairness, we probably wouldn't have expected too many more points than we've got anyhow.

So the nature of performance being put in, feels encouraging to me.

I think the Huddersfield game might tell us a lot about our chances.
I can't really remember us doing particularly well there, but hopefully it could be the start of us turning things round.

A couple of other fixtures in September could also do the same, and the month seems to be shaping up to me as being pivotal for our season.

Fingers crossed for a mixture of additions and players coming back from injury to kick start our season

    UTM
