After a late change of plan I’m off to my 7th game out of 8 this season tomorrow night so I’m looking forward to spouting my gibberish on Saturday.

Disagreeing is fine, seizing on any opportunity to show off "how clever" / "morally superior" / "how much of a better fan" they are at other posters expense with low-level teacher to pupil or parent to child style sarcasm is another thing altogether.
In the real world, these smug holier than thou w****** could expect a severe verbal dressing down or a slap and they wouldn't dare act in such a manner again. Online however the rules tend to protect those who've been educated into imbecility with the keyboard manners to go with it, whilst those who just tell it like it is with no airs and graces get piled on by the thought police and/or goaded into a ban.

Yes I am generalising about social media as a whole, not just MAD.

I think most of the rancour comes from the OT politics stuff. Entrenched views, fixed opinions and always ends up with insults. Has anyone ever changed their minds after a twenty page dirge on Liz Truss or whatever.
I'm not into banning anyone, sometimes it has to happen for the greater good. Fair play to Swale, he doesn't do it lightly and always gives posters enough role to hang themselves with.

From what I have previously seen on here both Laddo in their former incarnation and those that regularly got drawn into the tedious squabbles with or about TPFKAL are more than capable of interesting and constructive posts about the football club that we all follow. In my view NCM is a much better place when posters stick to such constructive contributions about Notts and are respectful of others and their opinions. To use an old adage, sometimes it is better to let sleeping dogs lie than provoke them. Here's hoping that the board can continue to be a positive place to vist and reflect the current increase in positivity and hope surrounding the club as a whole!
TPFKAL oh just spat my morning coffee out very amusing. Anyway 4.45 start tomorrow for the big one against Salford. COYP.

I have always thought that it is pointless to enter into arguments over religion, politics and football. You are never going to persuade people to change their standpoint.

I actually disagree from you here, apart from religion. Both the other things are worth talking about IMO.

I'm trying to decide whether to set an alarm for the 1.45am start and go back to bed after, or just power through awake until kickoff and accept I'll only get 4 hours sleep.

I don't watch midweek evening matches but this being on a Friday means I probably will watch.

True, but you will remind them that other opinions are out there and they are not the only ones that get to voice them. You don't have to accept other's opinions but you should always respect the person's right to make them. This should apply to all parties.

Even if nobody is going to change their mind, arguing online is a good way of testing out how robust your own argument is and to be better prepared for the push backs that you hadn't previously considered.

The best and most persuasive thinkers out there have been in situations (debating societies, paid speaking events, misguided youth) where they've had to argue and make the case for the opposition. When you find yourself surrounded by people refusing to allow anybody with an alternate opinion to be heard, then you know you're in very bad company that's going to lead you into a very dark place. Embarrassingly for me, this is only something I've realised in the last 3 years. It's taken the madness of what's gone down in the 2020s to slap me across the face with a reality check.

Yes I completely agree with that, and maybe I'm naive but I do also think people change their minds.

I've changed mine as a result of exchanges on here, and I'm sure I can't be the only one.

I think this has always been an important thing, but it is more important than ever now that the way we get our information has changed.
