Yes YN Blackpool were mediocre at best but
Their last ditch brave defending was worth a
    Comment I thought
We could learn something from that attitude perhaps?
    Mcatee missed an absolute sitter
We should have had at least a draw but that’s football init?

It's the way he's gone about it Grass that's the most concerning .

Here we are ten games in and he still doesn't know his best side or formation and I've yet to see anything tactically smart from him at all .

Here's no more forward solving this than he was in August and that's my biggest criticism of him .

The decision to drop Cadden sums him up , I understand Cadden was poor against Portsmouth , fair enough , however you can count the number of poor games Cadden's had on one hand , he's the best attacking source we have at the club and gets his share of goals plus his delivery from set pieces , incredibly poor decision , a decision only someone out of their depth would make .

He wants to play a ten one week just behind Cole and the very next week he doesn't and goes with either Watters or Cosgrove , the result is we aren't having any continuity so how on earth can we develop as a team .

The way to success at this level is repetition as Duff showed last season , 3-5-2 every week , everyone knew their job and we got better as the season progressed .

This league isn't rocket science but Collins is making it harder with his incessant changes , tweaks I get , extreme changes from one week to the next are the thinking of a man out of his depth and overwhelmed with the job here .

Collins on first ten games: “The points is fine. We’re in touching distance of where we want to be. There is lots to improve but the players have done really well considering a lot of the challenges and changes we’ve had."

“We can definitely play forward quicker at times. But you have to recognise Blackpool gave us a lot of possession and sat behind the ball. It’s important not to concede first against a team like that. We need to learn when to be patient and when to get the ball up quicker.

Collins says Phillips ill, Benson just not selected

Nothing about team selection and tactics in there so I reckon it’s a case of in Collins we trust lol.

He hasn't a clue and totally agree, he should go while the season can still be salvaged!

The Nicky Cadden situation baffles me. He's arguably one of the best left sided players in the division, if not the best.

Play your strongest XI possible. We've had injury problems and Phillips suspended, Styles on international duty etc which has meant changes had to be made in these first ten games. Collins hasn't been dealt a great hand to be fair. He deserves more time in the job than 10 games surely. Calling for his dismissal at this stage is a poor doo in my opinion.

There's a long way to go yet. Things need to settle down. The entire defence has been removed from last season and not replaced like for like. Easy to overlook. Personally the responsibility lies with the board in the defensive signings they made this summer. They aren't league 1 ready and it shows in the games that I've seen.

I saw FAR too much patience, too much back passing, side passing, and to be fair, we were boring. Too many players looking backwards. Now with the defeats at home beginning to mount, its worrying. I thought Gevigney was vastly improved, and deserves a mention for me. The choice of Mcart for MOM was greeted with deafening silence ….. who picks them?
We never got a grip of midfield, and I just wonder if Russell had been in there, with his ability to find his man with a pass we may have unlocked them a bit more. He may nit be the fastest, but he finds his man. Caddens introduction made a difference, as his ability to beat a man and get the cross in showed why he should be starting.
We look, like we can beat the bottom ten teams, but will get rolled over by the ten around us.
Was there a shot on goal today?

I get what you are saying pass, but we still have Williams and Cadden at the back from last season and he’s chosen to drop Cadden to the bench for the last 2 games? One of the best, if not the best left wing backs in the division! Not only does he cause defenders problems he assists goals and chips in with a few as well, it’s baffling, he should be one of the first names on the team sheet!
As has been said he doesn’t seem to know what his best team is? and his tactics seem to be bore the other teams to bits with sideway and back passes and send long hopeful balls down the wings?
As soon as Cotter and Cadden came on we started to run at their defence and cause them problems!
I screamed at the TV at one point because Kane must have tried 10 passes forward (all the rest were sideways or back), because he tries to play through players and hits the opposition every pass!
Styles stood out for me today, he looked hungry and was at them from the first minute, and stuck in some meaty tackles.
De Gevigne did play well today but I feel we look more solid in the centre when Shepherd is there, I don’t know what it is about the Frenchman but he looks like he’s about to drop a clanger at any minute, but so did Andersen when he first came so what do I know!
He shouldn’t have thrown young Chapman in today either, based on one good performance against Man City’s kids.
Personally I don’t think we will improve whilst he’s in charge especially if he keeps tinkering with his first team and not allowing them to learn to play together.

After ten games it's W5 D1 L4 from six at home and four away. We are 7th but have a stack of clubs a point or two behind us generally having played a game less.

I have found the football, in entertainment terms, average at best, sometimes underwhelming. The owners have made great play of here at Barnsley we have a policy to play a high paced, high press style and appoint HC's that follow that philosophy. Collins does not play that style, the build up is slow with players not having the technique to play slow possession football well.

The managed decline in where we recruit from, now down to inexperienced free transfer/ non league/ loan levels is beginning to show, particularly in defence. We are "old manned" out of games by the better clubs with more experienced players.

The Board get away with such things if they drop lucky on a good coach who can get the best out of the players dealt to them and they can ride on his coat tails, such as with ismael and Duff. If the HC is ordinary or poor such as Schopp and Asbaghi the chickens come home to roost. I fear we may well have appointed an average coach in Collins who will struggle to develop and organise the young players sufficiently.

A key feature of last season was beating the better teams at Oakwell. Four defeats already to teams likely to finish in the top ten does not bode well.

My initial view after ten games is to be underwhelmed, occasionally bored, by what is served up, the Port Vale freak and Wigan away excepted. I fear we may drift into an upper mid table outfit, especially if/ when Cole and Styles go in January.

I hope this initial view is wrong and good performances at Cambridge and Exeter this week show the way we are going and what kind of style, formation and players represent the Collins way of doing things and it begins to reveal itself. At the moment I am not sure what Collins is aiming at producing.

Should read "back three and goalkeeper"
