Well James obviously thought that they were very similar in height and presence

Val only had one January transfer window open to him whilst he was here .
What are you talking about ???
When I say ‘Ismael team’ I am obviously describing the team that played under Ismael.
I do NOT mean that Ismael put his hand in his pocket and bought those players himself 😂

I'd like to know how the diminutive Tom Bradshaw, Patrick Schmidt and Conor Chaplin fitted into the 'barnsley way' of playing. All under 6 foot and nowt to them in terms of physical presence. Yes, I can clearly see genius James's thinking there when he spotted those 3. I bet he thought "feck me those players look a handful. I bet they'll possess real ability to lead the line and bash the opposition defenders up"

I have to laugh at how Nudger rates our non league or unproven players as " good enough to play in the Championship " after seeing them laik 10 league 1 games, yet one of our current best players in Herbie Kane gets slated regularly. He was exactly the same with Woodrow wasn't he. Obviously he's a complete wind up merchant and out for a reaction at the end of the day
    And Mowatt.

Some supporters will be laughing at your posts Pass - but I don’t - as I find them to be really sad - that such as you and Animal constantly diss the club and everything about it at EVERY opportunity.

Even to the extent of dissing James Cryne recruitment - when the facts are there for all to clearly see - that he has brought players in for next to nowt and some of those players have been sold on for £££MILLIONS.
An expertise that has contributed to keeping the club afloat.
An expertise within Barnsley Football Club that most Chairpersons in clubs in the bottom 3 divisions would give their right arm for.

But not some of our own so called Barnsley supporters - that are only happy when they are sla.gging off the club.

Makes yer wonder what other ‘dog’ they are kicking when they are not able to kick out at BFC.

Luv it. I'm a very angry and bitter person Nudger. Thaz got to channel it someweear ent tha

As I sit in my armchair in mi mucky vest, can of special brew beer in hand, unshaven and overweight, the synicism just exudes, Jim Royle/Rab C Nesbit esque !!

No mate, I'm just a realist. I look at your posts and with all due respect, i can't help wondering what a sheltered life you've led. Either that or you're on a proper pyss take. Still, it's entertaining on a Sunday evening and brings an feeling of contentment and satisfaction into my otherwise drab existence.

If the club were to fold I'd probably do a Raoul Moat style rampage as the lack of something to moan about or criticise would overwhelm me

I started this thread to highlight our inexperienced defenders are nowhere near the quality required to replace last seasons defenders who have moved on , they have potential but are far from the finished product & have read the comments that everyone has contributed & firstly let me say having watched the reds for longer than most I can categorically say that I have never heard of " the Barnsley way " , also I do not believe we play tippy tappy football , we are the leagues top scorers & we push forward with a purpose , the problem we have is that we have a decent set of forwards , a decent group of midfielders but we have a dodgy defence , when we are away we defend deeper as a team & defend from the front , however when we are at home the team naturally have to go forward more & we get picked off continually on the counter , we scored 3 goals again on Friday but it wasn"t enough so Mr Collins in my opinion needs to approach our home games with other ideas otherwise the problems will keep on recurring .

    .
According to your logic we should have a very healthy bank balance with no need to keep pumping in Share Offer money.

Don't forget players that move on often come with a transfer fee eg Andersen £900K, as they develop they cost wages and other costs such as medical staff, kit, hotels eg Andersen at 4 years times £350k a year wages/ NI/pension/ other costs. That's £2.3 million already in total.
Soon eats into the £3/ £3.5 mill ? transfer income.

And then there's the costs in transfers and development of the players who don't make it and get quietly moved on without fanfare.

I'm not that sure Genius James has made that much, if any, profit, added up over the years.

Didn't see the Bradford game, but I have seen the midweek games so far. Clear we have defensive problems. I believe there is some talent there but it needs nurturing. As I said at the beginning of the season, it needs a Kevin Long or Michael Solbauer to organise the defence, give them confidence and get them playing. Marc Roberts appears to be regularly on the bench at Birmingham. Maybe he could be the one to make the difference in January.

Good points Arbs and totally agree but would Roberts return to 'Jokewell' ??
