So as long as TS can reach an agreement over wages then he can be our manager
When a manager agrees a settlement with a club he will sign a compromise agreement, in that agreement the club will agree to pay a discounted lump sum to settle the contract and cover off when he is allowed to work again. If that is done as soon as he leaves a club its generally 3 months before he can work again. That used to be the normal way of dealing with these situations, but the foreign owners tend not to do this and keep the manager on the payroll and hope to get away with paying next to nothing.

There are plenty of legal websites and case law that shows restraint of trade clauses in contract are virtually worthless, I suspect a number of us on here have direct experience of such matters and know this fact. You are correct HPRM in that people still try to use them in employment contracts as well as commercial contracts and the courts could side with the employer, but it is rare and in such a high profile industry as football, the reputational risk of trying to do it far outweighs the benefit of trying to enforce such a clause. Any organisations CRO would be jumping up and down waving a very red flag at such an action. In the end it comes down to one thing, MONEY and if Nathan Jones is offered the position at any football club it will be up to him whether he takes it, is being in work worth more to him personally than sat letting the clause expire and hoping a job lands at his feet after, remember there is an army of ex-managers that think their market value is not reduced over time and they will always get work, that army is still sat waiting

    Thanks HensonsPRman.

On what you’re saying there and what Derby is saying then I believe that the ball is in the hands of Tony Stewart.

    CHARACTER ASSASSINATION

It typically involves deliberate exaggeration or manipulation of facts, the spreading of rumours and deliberate misinformation to present an untrue picture of the targeted person, and unwarranted and excessive criticism.

If you're criticising a bloke who may or may not have been offered a job at RUFC, without any real knowledge, maybe I am.

I just hope whoever does get the job can guarantee us 60/70 points a season on our budget and in this league. If not they're going to get dogs abuse.

Derby have you not followed this if Jones takes the job he is in breach on his Southampton contract and kisses goodbye to circa £2m Now is that clear to you. No matter how much he wants the job he is not going to do that is he?
