I'm not criticising the system Swale merely pointing out last year indecision or lack of intent, call it what you will left us with no strength in depth and we need to be more proactive before all the best players are gone and we are left picking through the bones or signing higher league apprentices , that rarely work out.

The reason they are looking for a club is because they weren't good enough to be offered a new deal by their previous club.. The good ones are usually snapped up straight away..

Considering we sign free transfers generally, that means their contracts are coming to an end, why aren't we tapping them up in January when they become free to talk to other clubs getting in there first? Oh forgot this is Notts

Don’t think they are aloud to, it’s only when players are going abroad to certain countries I think.
Notts where possibly would have had the feelers out for a while now, people forget we did with Langstaff and he was under contract the next season.
Players are still under contract till the end of June so they’ll still have to tread carefully with some, if their current clubs are trying to get them to stay.

You might have noticed that some players are dissatisfied with their current club or manager and want to leave. Not every freebie is a crap player and some beauties just get missed. We’ve had both, as have all clubs.

Exactly if there’s players with clubs top end of L1 or even low end of Champ being let go, I’m pretty sure their would be a host of league 2 clubs very excited about the chance to sign some of them.

Gillingham seem to have done some great business and look likely to be challenging at the top
