Quoting stats about gate figures then making snipes about style is interesting, id think most sensible people on here would recognise the improved style of play has done a lot to increase the gate numbers over the Bros tenure.

You can keep screaming into the void about FACTS though, be my guest…
Massive amounts of projection here and you've clearly lost all sense of reality. The momentum and buzz was lost with the joint worst home run of results in Notts' history.

The objective of the game is to acquire points to finish as high as you can in the league table. Nobody gets to skew those facts, it's there in black & white for all to see.

You can sign all of the worlds top players, but if the man coaching the team is not up to scratch then the results will follow suit..

Man Utd have just won the FA Cup and qualified for the Europa League but their fans aren't happy. Most people will understand why that is, because they're the number 1 supported club and expect their league position to closely reflect that.
Nobody was in massive shock either that the club with the lowest support, FGR, have dropped back into the NL.

So yes, Notts should be upper L1 and if the current owners can't achieve that, or at least get close to it, then they can be added to our list of failures, regardless of how 'nice' they are.
My point is really a well run club is much more than league position compared with gate and the fact that we can flip it so easily shows that. We are clearly not the second worst run club, but neither are Luton or Bournemouth. You can't determine whether a club is well run or not on 1 metric, not least one which has some many influences which affect the number. On that metric we will remain a poorly run club no matter what we achieve next season.

Post war, we have only had 2 long runs of finishing above our gate position... when Saint Jimmy then Wilkinson were in charge and again with Warnock then Walker, during Dunnett and Pavis' tenures. The only other decent owner we had was Scardino and the Reedz are amongst the worst (1949 being the only other Post War year where we were more badly run and they have the Non-League years where we were well below our gate position too). I just don't buy that they are so awful.

I think that shows the severe limitations of the analysis you're doing though, as it's an absurd proposition that we are the 2nd worst run league club.

The best possible result last season was to finish 1st, which would still mean underperforming by 16 places by that measure, despite having back to back promotions and making good progress off the field.

I agree with your target of upper League 1 by the way. I just don't think you can draw the conclusions you've drawn in the short term.

Not a fair metric, LW had Mansfield and Wrexham at home to boost this.

For a personal perspective, I'd be a lot more excited for the new season if I thought Maynard could get the best out of the squad. Off what we've seen so far - that hasn't been the case.

I would like to think that perhaps there was some resistance from isolated players who have been moved on and that all the players can get behind Maynard and play as if he were Williams.

For me, he's had his audition last season and after 11 games if we aren't around the 18 point mark then I will be alarmed and hoping the board are seriously considering his position.

There's a difference between the players being told and a public announcement to the fans.

I wouldn't say they are awful and they can only be judged properly once they've left. You can't blame people for turning pessimistic however when we've just finished lower than we did under the Trust/Thompson having employed a part time manager from Wealdstone who's equalled the worst ever home run (at 4th tier level to boot) with a worse PPG than Fullarton at the point Fullarton was sacked.

And he’s also under contract to Notts County.
So it doesn’t matter how ambitious he is, if an offer doesn’t suit the club, he ain’t going anywhere.
