Just a general observation, the government doesn't have any money, the money is taken via taxes from the people (directly or indirectly) or borrowed from international bankers either directly or via bonds and it has been on the increase since about 1990 this should worry all of us. Don't forget the Bank of England is a private bank.

Seriously? Are you going back 24 years to make a point or have I missed the joke, which seems to be the vogue on this thread?
So is the position that Labour managed to create the need for 35 food banks in 10 years and the Tories managed 3537 in 14 years?
Good point - well made.
Good for you BOTN. That's to your considerable credit and something that you are entitled to be proud of.
You pay very little tax to 'support people who have no intention of working with 6 kids and fleecing the system'. You pay for the NHS, education, road maintenance, policing rubbish collection and defence. It's true that you also pay for benefits, the majority of which is in the form of the old age pension.
I think that instead of berating fellow citizens who have no intention of working with 6 kids and fleecing the system, we should work out how it came to that and address it.
As somebody far more intelligent than me put it:
'tax is the price of living in a society'.
