Hard working folk such as yourself shouldn't be penalised for the dire state that the country is in. That is almost entirely due to the wealth drain to the uber rich (many of whom aren't even British, but own our assets and utilities). The government is running out of money. We see it all over. The country's wealth is being sucked up by the uber rich.

Unless inequality is addressed nothing will change. It's not a left/right thing, it's a fact of life. We shouldn't pigeon hole it as "left wing". It clouds the issue.
Just a general observation, the government doesn't have any money, the money is taken via taxes from the people (directly or indirectly) or borrowed from international bankers either directly or via bonds and it has been on the increase since about 1990 this should worry all of us. Don't forget the Bank of England is a private bank.

Oh, and chuck in free broadband too, just as revenge for last time. Not in the red wall areas though. They're all ****s.

    Salut comrade.
    *Tongue in cheek alert*

Corbyn certainly won the argument back in 2019. Free broadband was right up there with Sunak's national service as a vote winner.

Seriously? Are you going back 24 years to make a point or have I missed the joke, which seems to be the vogue on this thread?

So is the position that Labour managed to create the need for 35 food banks in 10 years and the Tories managed 3537 in 14 years?

    Good point - well made.

It’s not. He was just trying to lighten the mood.

    It was a whoosh moment.

Or a woosh moment if you live in his world. God forbid.

    Yep that’s Fair.
Good for you BOTN. That's to your considerable credit and something that you are entitled to be proud of.

You pay very little tax to 'support people who have no intention of working with 6 kids and fleecing the system'. You pay for the NHS, education, road maintenance, policing rubbish collection and defence. It's true that you also pay for benefits, the majority of which is in the form of the old age pension.

I think that instead of berating fellow citizens who have no intention of working with 6 kids and fleecing the system, we should work out how it came to that and address it.

"Blairism" is certainly what we've had since 1997. Both parties the same, neoliberal and globalist.

This is true. If you submit a tax return, just go on your online tax account and there is a breakdown of where your tax goes. By tax year.

As somebody far more intelligent than me put it:

'tax is the price of living in a society'.

The people we entrust to redistribute these taxes are ill equipped for the task in hand.

Change is coming. The 2 party system is coming to an end.

I give it 10 years max.
