It’s obvious to all to see Crowley is one of our two best players. I don’t like the idea of selling him to that mob, but if the money is good, then let him go.

Every player has his price and every club, bar about 5 elite clubs, are selling clubs. Don’t kid yourselves into thinking any differently.

Selling your best players just shows that your priority is NOT promotion as the players you sell are never replaced with better ones, The reason other clubs want our best players is because they want promotion otherwise, why would they buy them. No promotion this year if Crowley goes.

Incoming "Crowley departs and we welcome Swan as part of a swap deal"

In all seriousness please don't let this be true, I've only just got over the shock of losing Nemane on the eve of the new season and losing Crowley would be a million times worse.

We lost/sold key players such as Wootton and Roberts and replaced them with Langstaff and Ruben. We then lost Ruben and replaced him with Crowley. It's possible to sell your better players and end up with a stronger team, but it's not guaranteed.

Suggesting Maynard is a factor in players leaving is just pure speculation. Not everything is Maynard's fault.

Exactly. It may well be a sign of our recruitment strategy working, but surely the goal is to get promoted rather than endlessly find gems and sell them on.

I never suggested Maynard was at fault.

We could sell all 3 of our best players yet.
As stated by others, we are a selling club if the offer is too good to refuse. All clubs are.
I can't see Crowley being daft enough to go to Mansfailed though. He would find it very difficult to play his natural game at Ploughed Field Mill.

I presume the ultimate goal is both. We've used Macca and Nemane to get out of the NL and then sold them on for tidy profits, for example.

Of course, that would be great, but selling your best players makes it much harder to get promoted - unless you use the money to strengthen the squad and recruit consistently well. Brentford have shown how that can work.

    Yes indeed.
