Not sure Silver deserves stick as without him we would have languished in second division obscurity. He and Forherby made a great double act and under him we built the East Stand which is the one bit of the stadium not looking like it belongs in a retro 1970s detective series or about to fall down.

Yes we sold off a fair few players but that was partly down to Wilkins too and under him we built the academy which had produced so many good players - Woodgate, Smith, Milner, Cook, Delph, Kewell, Gray etc.

Cousins definitely didn’t seem to have a clue in the 1980s but there also wasn’t a big queue of rich benefactors looking to jump in either.

We could definitely do with a Fotherby character now.
