That being said, imprisonment is a factor that can be taken into account for deportation purposes and I have had several clients released by the prison service only to be taken into custody by the border agency for deportation.

That wouldn't have made a good story for the Express or Mail though.
Never is where they're concerned but, it would raise some praise for any Government if these stats were collated and reported on so the British Taxpayer could see where their money is spent and what on when it comes to the Prison/Court services like deportation.

So they took them out of non existent cell and set them free!

To set them free they had to be in a cell in the first place so it wasn’t non existing 🤔

And this is based on what? What's your evidence for those claims?

I think Saville hid in plain sight and was protected by our ridiculous awe of celebrity.

I have a friend who is a Saville victim. I haven't checked with her, but from previous conversations with her, I suspect that she would tell Steve and you to f*ck off and stop treating her abuse as a subject for your febrile imaginations.

    I'll try to help.

    100 cells - 100 prisoners. OK
    100 cells- 101 prisoners. Bad - A prisoner needs a non-existent cell.

You honestly believe he was a one man vile act machine? Get your head out of the sand. I'm not going to trawl up the early day arrests he had to go through and questioned at length with no conviction, they are out there if you want to look at them. The evidence then pointed to him but amazingly nothing came of it and I'm talking of the late 60's early 70's.

If some of these prisoners reoffend quite quickly, which I believe quite a lot do, then how is this going to alleviate the prison cell shortage .
If they are going to be let out early then an even higher percentage may choose to reoffend quite quickly because there’s hardly any deterrent
According to some commentators the early release prisoners may have nowhere to live and minimal support which could lead them to commit more crimes just to stay alive
    More pressure on the system.

Not great for the law abiding Joe Public if more crimes are coming our way

The summer rioters / bin kickers must have had first reservations at his majesty’s pleasure anyway

Is there a realistic workable plan here and I just wonder if this new government has thought it through properly

So you are not going to offer any evidence to support your claims, simply double down on them.

Fair enough. It must be a mod thing (apologies to Cam).

What realistic workable plan do you have in mind?

I agree that the early release of prisoners without support is problematic to say the least, but what's the solution if there are more prisoners than prison places?

It’s not me that puts them there 😂

You are seriously detached aren’t you?

This is exactly my point! You can’t see further than what the law says. Sending first time offenders to prison whilst releasing armed bank robbers early is a great system that you are defending!

Not sending a child abuser to prison because he didn’t know it was illegal to molest a 13 year old but sending a woman to prison for some naughty words on Facebook isn’t normal!

That woman will serve more time than a young man that killed someone with a machete!

Yep! Great use of resources 😂
