but when your sick list is like ours, it might come down to either or - if we did get promoted this season (x), it's not inconceivable that tonight's loss would have been a major contributing factor - or alternatively, if Platt's injury is serious, it might be seen as a mistake to have risked him (4th yellow and Walsall up next etc.)

eta: whatever managing a football club is, it's not simple

Fine, but when you do that you are massively putting the pressure on yourself to achieve in the league. Promotion or nothing.

I cannot see us getting promoted under SM.

yup! Let's hope they're right! Although to be fair SM's options are limited it's not like he went into the game resting our best players to focus on the league.

George Abbott will go on to bigger and better things than this, but he'll find it hard to better his first goal in the men's game.
I agree. That goal will be George Abbotts "David Beckham scoring from the halfway line against Wimbledon" moment for me. An announcement of his arrival in the men's game.

    Sorry ?
You admit that AB made some great saves , keeping the score respectable but you seek to indulge in Nitpicking.
Entirely entitled to your opinion, of course, but I'd dispute your assessment that he was responsible for conceding any of the goals.
If you watched the game closely, maybe you could have been critical of the MF player giving the ball away which resulted in the Posh scoring twice with one given offside.
Still, some on here rate him highly and claimed he had his best game so far in a Notts shirt. I'm afraid he certainly needs to show considerable improvement.
If SM and some of our performers today, had been as good as Alex Bass, George Abbott, Matty Platt and Matt Palmer Notts wouldn't have lost that game .
    Enjoy your evening.

Nitpicking?? I wasn't at the game but Stall and Hassel clearly said he was at fault for the equaliser as did Notts own twitter feed. I saw him for myself at Doncaster doing exactly that, passing to an opposition player. As I said, he clearly is an excellent shot stopper but I hate to think what the Slocombe haters would have been saying if he'd made those mistakes. Some fans forget that he has also made excellent saves over the years but also has made some errors, as all keepers do, including Bass

You can't start with what supporters think is a strong XI and get to half time in the lead and then change it completely and subsequently lose the game without getting flak! I get the case for team selection with a following league game in mind but SM sent mixed messages today and deserves all he gets! People spent good money to attend that game and people had hopes raised by the first half only to be shot down by the second half. If nothing else I hope he has learnt to be open/obvious about the approach to a game so people can make a choice about spending hard earned ?.

The fans calling for Maynard to be sacked I’ll guarantee were saying we’d be bottom half before the season started. Yet here we are, with a depleted squad just 2 points outside the automatics.
If we’d have sacked Maynard in the summer and were currently in the same position, people would be saying it’s proof that Maynard wasn’t good enough.
As for the subs. Posh were pilling on the pressure and it felt the inevitable was coming. He brought on Ness to add more height at the back and Austin as Tsaroulla was fading.
I think AJ was coming off with Tuesday in mind but Scott then went down with what looked like a hamstring injury.
If Didzy is injured, and I suspect he is if he wasn’t on the bench, and Scott has just gone down holding his hammy then I’m glad AJ went off if he’s our only fit striker.
We were under similar pressure at Doncaster and Maynard got panned for not making changes. Then when he does, he still gets panned.
We lost 4-3 to a league 1 team and dominated for large spells. Calling for the managers head is bed wetting at its finest!
And there it is ! The bed wetting comment. Well done drum, knew I could really on you to make that idiotic comment when most on here agree he has no idea!
