If Notts didn't need the money then it would make sense to get knocked out of the cups ASAP and concentrate on the leagues.
Apparently though, we don't have an automatic promotion budget - despite the 2nd highest gates, which should mean any extra cash would be very welcome, but no - they want to concentrate on the league. Yet last season, instead of going for it from the position LW left us in, we brought in somebody who clearly needed to learn on the job and since mid-September has overseen mid-table form.

Neutrals dont watch us every week! think in terms of performances and teams with games in hand youve got to admit 5th is currently a false position and our more realistic place is mid table?

I dont think hes likely to go anytime soon regardless of results but pretty much everyone thought he should go after those 5 home defeats last season until the owners put that statement out trying to convince people that night was day. He?s not done much since. . I?ll be astonished if we get a result at Walsall because thats just the sort of game weve never even looked like winning since he took charge. ( I know we won there last season but they weren?t second then).

I just don't get modern-day football fans, people travel in their thousands to a cup game they've been looking forward to and spent a fortune to get to, and it's apparently OK, for the manager to make four substitutions and throw the game, and anyone who disagrees is gaslighted as being a bedwetter or a spoilt brat.

Can you image Sirrel doing that back in the day? We cannae play our best players in the cup else we wouldnae win the league. No, it would have been unthinkable to him, he never wanted the supporters to be let down.

If all the teams with fewer than 17 played won all their games in hand, we'd still be 7th.

Our form has clearly suffered from our absences - it's really ripped the guts out of the team - but I think we're better than mid-table (in what seems to be a very average league this season).

Thing is, for every bedwetter there are 5 I love Bros, 5 nodding dogs and 10 rose tinted specs wearers. I think it hard to believe that anyone believes Maynard is doing a good job, given the backing and resources made available to him. But of course it's not worth getting the sheets wet because he is going nowhere.

Understandable that you are going to get a knee jerk reaction after the disappointment of defeat but as you say not very scientific, I speak to a group of about 10 fans every home game & will make a point of asking the question on Sat but so far not one has suggested that Maynard doesn't deserve more time, however we speak pre KO & at HT not directly after a defeat, I'm sure it makes a difference to the fans who aren't anti Maynard. Everyone seems to think that once the injured players return then everything will be all rosy again, that's assuming they don't get injured again.
As for Dan Crowley, I wouldn't be surprised if he left in January to either Charlton or Mansfield. As regards the other players, only Jodi and Robbo are the ones being missed. Edwards has only performed against the weaker opposition, against the the better teams he has looked average. The same applies to Grant.. Also, we have been let down by our backup players, who apart from Ness have all been rubbish. The 2 loan signings of Brown and Martin have been a waste of time , and should both be shown the door in January.

Laughable that people are defending Maynard's subs yesterday, imagine it had finished 2-2 or even 4-4 we'd have had an extra 30 minutes to play with 10 men and no subs available. Totally idiotic. Many fans on the train coming home felt the same way.
