Elgin was granted permission to remove the sculptures with certain conditions attached, he then sold them to the UK government who now own them so it will be a government decision to repatriate them unless ownership was transferred along with the marbles.
Using terms like Gen Z, a yearning for days where Britain was like it used to be, bedwetting over inanimate objects that you read about in the Daily Mail - i think you?ve nearly got a full house in GB news bingo.

Glad you?ve rightly been embarrassed by subsequent posters for some of the nonsense you?ve been talking in this thread. Astronomical headloss from you.

I think someone needs to find your marbles.

    Give them their stuff back.
I agree let's scrap the commonwealth it might save us billions of pounds in the long run.

I think the marbles should be given back to Greece as a gesture of goodwill. Perhaps they'll then give us something in a likewise gesture. We are supposed to be friends after all, & this is a sore point between us.

Regarding the history of colonisation generally:
Well, it was totally horrific. I suppose we gave the colonies three useful things: railways, the English language, and most importantly - cricket. In return they got centuries of slavery, relentless oppression, and ruthless asset stripping. I do not think we can ever really consider the idea of reparations because (1) they were different ages with different moral zeitgeists (2) the cost would be astronomical or beyond computation.
