When did we last play well (ie win) against better teams in our division? Even the play-off semi and finals showed a soft underbelly with easily given away goals and the results could easily have gone the other way.
Hopefully if the Bros are really serious, as they appear to be, they will be examining the models of those that are successful and be radically retuning their metrics. My revived enthusiasm for going down to the Lane has waned and I'm sure I'm not the only one. I wouldn't be surprised if there are a 1000+ extra who would be down there if performances and results (not possession) were better.
Well if he has then I?d be telling him to look at his own performances as frankly he has been poor since he came back into the side.
The problem is the fringe players just aren?t good enough look at that bench yesterday you wouldn?t want many of them starting games for us we were bullied all over the place and we can?t also play direct style as we don?t have the players to play that way.
Maynard might go soon who knows but they?ll appoint another like him and that guy will also be hamstrung by somebody else?s signings as I have mentioned seems to be immune to any flack.
Saw yesterday people mentioning Robins which is quite laughable and as he is a MANAGER we not go for him even if we could get him.
The thing is, better coaches higher up the leagues are getting sacked for better performances than Maynard. He isn't the man for the job, despite getting fantastic support from Bros. If they aren't looking at this seriously now, then they need to be ashamed of themselves too.
this most recent result is really disappointing, and that doesn't reflect well on Maynard (or anyone), but so far it's about the only result all season where I'd say that.
In a season with better injury luck we'd still be sitting on the auto promotion spots, and I can't hang that on the head coach. Doesn't make sense.
If we he was failing with a full team I'd have more questions. As it is, I don't.
agree but the thousand foot view for discussion now we've played enough early/pre/season games with this setup, is that we're not strong enough to compete consistently as a unit - for some reason. And this is entering a critical stage of the season. Lots of contributing factors to one degree or another: recruitment, coaching staff, individual player issues, injuries, luck, ref protection... but like Slack said, we're slowly but surely losing our identity.
Our marauding attack has melted away, our midfield is essentially Abbott in terms of impacting games, and now our potentially bricksh!thouse defence is proving to made of straw - again - sorry it's no laughing matter, we're not passing with any threat, we're not able to best any kind of press, and we're giving dumb goals away - again. Even worse to my mind, is that we've hardly any fight. At least if you're the coach and your team can't be slick or brilliant cuz sicknotes, then you put in more effort than the other team and find a way to compete. And it we're not even competing consistently...
Line manager/coach has to change pdq at this point/be changed, no?
The Reedtz? continued patience is damaging us and to be quite frank, borders on negligence.
The Brothers seem to have got more things right than wrong during their ownership, including hiring and firing managers. The Salford game could be pivotal in the campaign so far as we were apparently awful and never in the game. I have a feeling that if this is continued over the Christmas and New Year programme then they will act to replace as required. They are no mugs. Historically they have patience with managers and are fair. I think we are at the stage now though where this has been displayed but they have also been ruthless when required.
PS - i hope that Maynard with a full squad and a series of home games will get us going again , however a few more repeat performances of Saturday and those with Good will for him ( including me) will probably be for turning !!
It would help if he played players in their correct positions. Wingbacks like Tsarullah playing on the left, Crowley in a forward attacking midfield role leaving Abbott and Palmer to do the defending duties plus giving Jatta more support upfront. It's not rocket surgery.
