Somebody posted on here the other day that there has been some kind of falling out and he is off back to Gateshead in the new year. I have zero idea if that is just typical ignorant fan rumour behaviour or real. The truth is probably somewhere in the middle!
Tbf I don?t think any of it?s come true from any who have claimed they are. The ones that do know bits probably don?t share. I?ve had a couple of snippets here and there over the years that I know will be 100% true because of the source but wouldn?t put it on a forum in case it lead back to them.
Exactly my thoughts. His goals to minutes in the NL was up with the best, even though he rarely occupied the central striking role. He's needed to build match fitness since injury and illness, but has only had 20 - 25 minutes at the end of games. If my memory serves me right, when he's started a couple of competition games lately, he's got a goal in the first 30 minutes or so and ran his race by 60. Also, his good defensive work out of possession goes largely unnoticed. Some of the other fringe players are similarly suffering from a lack of minutes.
He played second fiddle to the best striker in the NL and is now doing the same to Jatta. I wouldn't be surprised if he we've seen the last of him in a Notts shirt as he'll be looking for a regular start.
I think for his own sake it might be better if he went out on loan away from the pressure. He has taken part in 10 league games with no goals and no assists. Admittedly several of those games he was only on the pitch for a few minutes.
For the clubs sake we cant have someone on the bench at the business end of the season who "might" come good. There can be no room for sentimentality.
So for the same reason Brown should probably go too but only after we have a suitable replacement through the door.
Maybe harsh, but that's exactly where I'm at. Cedwyn Scott has to prove two things - firstly that he's the player he was before his injury, and secondly that he's capable of stepping up to League 2 level, and both are still unanswered questions. I would love him to prove me wrong, but my gut feeling is that it would be better for all parties if he pursued other opportunities.
Who do people think will come and play as Jatta's understudy, getting a few minutes here and there while Jatta remains fit? How long will Jatta sit happily on the bench when we sign a better striker than him?
