Am I missing something here? Isn't this what Football Radar is all about? We sign players who aren't performing, but their statistics say can do better, build them up and then sell them.

Good luck to Dan Crowley and more of the same from Notts.

Simple as this, really. No need for too much melodrama about it.

I think the statements from the club and the player pretty much tell the story - bids were made last summer which fell short of the asking price at that time, but a new bid has come forward that meets the asking price now, and no doubt the wage package is extremely lucrative. It's business, MK Dons are one of the financial big hitters in the lower leagues right now and many if not most players would take the bait if it was offered.

Dan Crowley is, without doubt, a immensely talented player for this level, but he's also got flaws, which is probably why he's moving from one League Two club to another and not to a team far higher up. It is what it is. Hopefully the lads we've signed from Everton and Hull will each bring their own spark to the squad.

I can understand if he wants to go now but surely there must be league one clubs interested?

For me the ideal scenario would be if he stays until the end of the season like Ruben and Wootton did then go in the summer for free.
Good to see you wanting to spaff at least ?200,000 plus up the wall for the owners, its very easy when it is not your money xx

Has to be the correct answer, i don't give a rats ass if its to a rival. The brothers welcome the cash and invest it in the team. i think we have others that can slip into the DC role , maybe we invest it in the midfield butcher fans seem to think we need?

How much did Notts get? The 200K sounded high to me, maybe 50K for a guy with 16 weeks on his contract?

Crowley has been a good player for Notts in the past year, but hopefully Jarvis will be better and help take us to the next level.

"Unfortunately, however, Dan's expectations exceeded what we were prepared to offer"

So the point there is, it appears Dan wanted more dosh than the radar says he's worth. It's definitely better to let him go in that case, especially if he can get it elsewhere.

Even if the fee we receive for him only covers what we paid, that's still good - means we only paid wages for a fantastic player.

Overall this is a mixed result for me though. On balance over the course of his time here we did very well to have him and it's a sign the radar is working of course. But one of our top players leaving in the middle of a promotion push is always going to make us nervous.

"We nevertheless maintained a good relationship and rejected several substantial bids this month and last summer, with us prepared to retain Dan?s services up until the conclusion of his contract should our high valuation of him not be met in this transfer window.

"This latest offer, however, was acceptable to us and, with Dan informing us that he wanted the move to happen, we have sanctioned it."

But that says to me that they did get a substantial offer, so we've likely made a tidy profit on him as well. If the profit covered his wages, effectively we had a top player for nothing while he was here. If it was more... we had a top player who paid us to be here. So I can see the long term value.

    Just... timing... ugh.

He's a footballer it's his job he's not a fan he's looking after himself like we all do.
When he was at his best he was a pleasure to watch and see in a Notts shirt.
I think like a lot have said it's a great bit of business by the bros a if true a tad over 300 K for a player with 4 months left on his contract no no-brainer.
He was always going he's Gone it's a shame but we are Notts we move on
I hate these undisclosed fees pain in the proverbial.

I agree about the standard and game speed, but physically (as in tackles, contact) it was far, far harder.
That?s why older players struggle to walk when they get older, they were sent out half fit full of cortisone injections.

Do you throw a wobbly every time a player leaves Notts? You do know they aren?t fans only employees.
