A person's mush and demeanour tells you whether they want to be at Turf Moor or not.
Tella's did, Weghorst's didn't.

Oh yes. 8 June 2022 before a ball had been kicked in any league competition. We had been relegated, Wout was going on loan to Besiktas in order to try to fulfil his World Cup dream and Wales played the Netherlands at home. Wales equalised in the second minute of added time and were celebrating, however, Wout scored the winner in the 4th minute of added time and Roberts went off on one, which he has been seen to do on several occasions in his time at Burnley.
The return match was 13 June 2022, the Netherlands won 3-2 and Wout didn't even bother playing.
To say he did not want to be at Burnley from the start is pure conjecture because he started every game until the last three and never feigned injury. He has played in 506 competitive games since his first appearance for Heracles on 9 August 2014, two days after his 22nd birthday.
Compare with Ashley Barnes who has played in 506 competitive games since his established first season at Brighton in August 2010
Wout has scored 155 goals and Ashley has scored 121. Both players are good professionals who have done their job. Both have different skill levels and one has represented his country at full International level, the other played 1 match at Under 20 level.
Personally, I like them both but feel that Wout came into a team not playing well and who had been shaken by the loss of their leading goalscorer to another team fighting relegation. He was criticised for missing a big chance, however, in order to miss you have to get yourself in a position to score and he never shirked that responsibility.
Just to get back on track, how many games has Tresor played?

Different circumstances really. Tella was on loan and getting a game whereas, had he been at Southampton he would not have been playing.
He was also playing in a team trying to win promotion and get himself a reputation.
Wout was playing in a struggling team and fighting relegation and, in spite of all his efforts, he was disappointed that things were not working out as he and the club wished. He had nothing to prove anyway.
Unfair comparison, however, Burnley fans are renowned for putting the boot into their own players. Remember Dean Marney when he first came, Jeff Hendrick all the time he was here, Josh Brownhill even now.
A sad indictment, super, but true.
Everyone on here loves BFC and wants success but some don’t seem able to get over the fact that Messi, Ronaldo, Salah, Haarland, Isak (to name a few) have not accepted the offer to play for the Clarets and that the owners have failed in not recruiting the world’s best. Even the Manager is not good enough for some. Presumably Slot should have turned down Liverpool and come to Burnley?
I am not suggesting that players should be above criticism but the fact remains that we could win the PL, th? FA cup, the Carabao Cup and the Champion’s League and some would still be complaining.
All I ever ask, and have asked, is that whoever is playing, they give it their best shot.
It isn't always easy to do that because none of us know what problems players face off the field as well as on it. Many fans forget that we are talking about human beings and not robots. In spite of their talent and their mega earnings, they still face the same problems as we do and all I can ever do is wish them well and hope that they can always give 100% for the team.
I hope that the players who were rested reflect on today's performance and realise they have to up their game to maintain their positions. We have a lot of good players, but not necessarily in the right positions as Eric Bartholomew may have said.
The manager of the Netherlands told Weghorst that if he was not playing in the Premier League he would not be selected for the world cup squad. This to me was nonsense as the Championship is a far better league than some of the other countries top leagues. As it is every player’s dream to be in a world cup squad the chairman and club agreed to him being loaned out, which was a good gesture on their part.
Once he returned some supporters were constantly booing him, which was deplorable to do that to your own team, proving that they were not true supporters of Burnley FC. Yet they could have criticised him on a web site or social media but definitely not booing him during a match.
In the case of Nathan Tella, he gave an interview saying he expected to be a Burnley player in that Premier League season but the club was unable to negotiate the sale with Southampton. It was reported that BFC offered around the same as Leverkusen but Southampton accepted their offer over that of BFC.
One has to wonder if the BFC chairman’s daughter had p1$$ed off the Southampton board with her publicity stunt.
