I certainly believe that he needs some good people backing him up but he has done a reasonable job under difficult circumstances this season & is gradually gaining in experience. If there is a outstanding candidate that the owners have in mind then fair enough but if it's going to be another unknown lucky dip the old saying " be careful what you wish for" springs to mind. What has been clear from the outset under these owners is that they don't appoint or dismiss managers on a whim. They give the incumbent - whoever it us - plenty of time to put their stamp on the team, and then they judge their performance based on a large body of evidence and data, not a couple of good or bad results at any given time. And you're right, if they decide to make a change (as opposed to a manager suddenly being poached) then they will probably have someone in mind who they believe could do a better job for equal value.

Obviously this approach isn't really in tune with the emotional rollercoasters that are football fans and football message boards, but the big picture is that the method adopted by the brothers has seen us gradually moving upwards over the past five seasons, including a promotion, whereas the emotion-led chopping and changing of managers (and players) by previous regimes saw us gradually decline, dropping two divisions and going into financial meltdown.

Do you really think Maynard was the most experienced manager available???
A part time manager with very limited experience and no track record of success managing a mid table level 5 team.

He's turned out to be exactly what it said on his CV.

Left field appointments rarely work. Notts County players and importantly supporters, deserve better than hoping a man who has achieved nothing is the answer

I think a lot of fans perception of SM was made at the start, part time NL coach, bt engineer regardless of keeping Wealdstone in the league being only one of 2 or 3 part time teams in the league.

Same with IB, PE teacher regardless that he had done some good jobs in Scandinavia.

LW had no history of being a BT engineer or PE teacher and his only previous senior management role was at Swindon which he oversaw them being relegated.

I think the fact he came over more bullish got fans onside and after a slow start we started winning in a fairly poor league and people were then totally behind him. Fast forward his career and Swansea fans say he only won stuff in the NL, out of his depth and couldn?t motive anyone.

Not sure why my point is 😂, but merely an observation I?ve been thing about the last couple of days😂
This is it. There's bugger-all chance SM was the most experienced manager they could hire. The most experienced candidate available would be some washed-up has been with a tactical mind from the 90's who hasn't won anything in a decade. But experience isn't the only metric they would've been going for.

In fact I would guess the main metric they were looking for is overachievement. As you point out, LW and IB weren't very experienced. But they were (IMO) excellent and in both cases did well enough with us that they were poached by teams at higher levels.

You know who had plenty of experience when we hired him? Ardley. Including a promotion from L2. That's worth pondering, in my opinion.

So... we're a lock for at least a playoff spot this season, and we're one single win short of automatic promotion. As in, if we had won any one of our unlucky draws or wins this season, if we had had even one fewer unlucky injuries this season, automatic promotion.

Auto still of course not mathematically impossible.

And almost 70% of us vote to sack the head coach.

    BONKERS!

I respect your opinions. I love reading them. In this case, they are INSANE

    I agree?

Some on here show the arrogance that many hate about Forest fans. Somehow being Notts County we deserve much better..

To be fair to Mark Hughes, they had a PPG of 0.75 at the time he took over, 1.18 since, the 18th best in the league then till now. He made a fight of what looked like a lost cause.

For us to be as arrogant as F-word fans we'd need to be demanding/expecting us to be at - or just below - our high water mark. We're three levels below that.
