I remember being at Swindon when we got relegated. We sang throughout the whole 90 minutes to encourage the lads, but it made no difference, we played crap. Its the team that needs to give the supporters something to cheer about. This season at home we have had very little to cheer about. We win a game away against a side that sits 19th in the table, and suddenly SM is back in favour.. He needs to be accountable for all of those points dropped at home against inferior opposition with crowds of a round 10,000 and providing some of the worst boring football seen for ages..

I don't recall anyone complaining about a lack of atmosphere at Meadow Lane during the National League promotion campaign. The team generally played exciting football and the crowd (including the Pavis stand) responded with enthusiasm, as they always will if their team is playing the ball forward at every opportunity and creating chances.

I agree with you that the football at home this season has often been dull and uninspiring to watch, even in some of the games we eventually won, so it should come as no surprise that the crowd reaction is more apathetic. Yes, the players need supporters to get behind them, but the onus is on the team to offer something for them to cheer.

Most clubs have areas of support that are typically more or less vociferous, and fans tend to self-select where they sit based on what they prefer, as is their right as paying punters, but if there's enough happening on the pitch then the whole ground comes alive.

I wasnt refering to the National league.. I was merely pointing out that sometimes no matter how much the crowd get behind the the team, the team doesn't always respond. And that has been very much the case at Meadow Lane this season..
