Gross error? The guy was a handful of points away from automatic promotion. We've had gross errors in appointments in the past, this wasn't one of them and I'm sure the Bros as are many of us disappointed that he didn't grow in experience in his time here. Gross and brutally; easy to say in hindsight. Fine margins between failure and success and with changes during the season there were shifting sands. The Bros have made the right decision now they have 18 months of data and facts.
How do you work that out ? They gave him an opportunity to make a name for himself, but the job proved too much. As regards the January window and the fact the two coaches weren't replaced. This was because the Bros already new at that time that it wasnt worth spending large amounts of money on recruiting new coaches and players with this guy at the helm, so decided to leave it until the season was over.
I'm with Durham and have said the same a few times. Easy to say get another coach, like they are on the shelves at Lidl. There was a possibility, even right to the last month, that we might have got up. Rushing to get a coach before the new director of football arrived, and then maybe having to live with that rushed decision for some of next season, then another sacking - that's not how the Bros work, they have more patience than that.
Nobody knows why the Saunders brothers left but we do know we filled their role with Alves.
The owners have to take some blame though if they deliberately sacked off the season or pit another way didn’t give the CLUB the best chance of promotion.
The recruitment was frankly awful in Jan and everybody knows it and not one of the signings started the home game against Wimbledon that is telling regardless of what I/we think of Maynard those players were nowhere near good enough and that isn’t on the head coach either.
Is it right for him to go ? Yes but others at the club need to learn from this signing young talent is fine but you do need someone who is going to be a starter to push you on.
