Hinshelwood had a great season at York to be fair. But I agree - do we really need another manager who's side gets bullied in big matches? I get the feeling the bros will go for him or someone similar, someone without L2 experience or a promotion on their CV. Another semi-experiment. The thing is, if we pushed the boat out and got someone like Ian Evatt or Dean Brennan, we'd be nailed on for promotion. We have everything in place to succeed apart from a winner as a head coach.

Managers who have already achieved promotion and success at the level we currently play at are more likely to do so again than those who have achieved nothing. If our strategy is to maximise our chances of promotion, we'd be better off getting a manager who has already managed that elsewhere. It's not a guarantee of success, but it's less of a risk than what we normally do.

Re Hinshelwood, I suppose he would have achieved promotion last season in any other division. 96 points is pretty incredible and it's a huge injustice that they aren't in L2. That alone makes him a stronger candidate than most on the list.
