Why do you consider this one to be an emergency?

I don?t view this as an emergency of any kind, rather a considered decision which I agreed with.

The limited say/control for the head coach on signings is a worry and could easily put some prospective candidates off but I believe we are a very attractive proposition to ambitious managers and coaches out there due to our ownership and how we are run.

The advantage of the head coach approach is continuity. We don't have to rip it all up and start again every time a new man comes in. But I definitely think our approach self-selects for people who are perhaps not big personalities or born leaders. The managers with big personalities and real leadership qualities generally want to come in and run the club, including recruitment.

I think you hit on a very good point regarding big personalities. Saying that I am a big fan of the continuity approach. Badly neglected nor seemingly even considered in the past

I am happy with their approach, but obviously disappointed it failed last time. I think they will learn from it, and it is clear they have already put a lot of their own money in.

We need a leader though with a track record.

Currently Alves and Hinshelwood at evens, the rest of the field 10/1 and more

I think it's a plus that the say on signings is restricted but I fear that the restrictions are either total or far too great. The head coach is the person who needs to fit players into the system, if the system is to be consistent. For example, no matter how impressed I am with Jarvis (and I am) there is no way I'd want to shoe horn him into a left wing back position.

I'd agree about the attractive proposition but our target would be newish managers, which is what we did with Burchnall, Luke, and Maynard with varying degree of success (and I'm not sure Luke did that well towards the end, despite being outstanding for a season and a bit)

He played good football in the NL with the 2nd best squad and against NL teams.

Hinshelwood seen shaking new signing Ollie Banks hand today at York, could be a strong hint he's staying there.

Could be off to Nottingham right after the snap!

It was quite a relief seeing that photo on X, I don?t know why. Hinshelwood now back out to 6/1 and Alves now 1/3! Which, in my opinion, shows the bookies haven?t got the foggiest idea and it?ll probably be somebody not on the bookies? shortlist!

Very very true but I think the days of it solely down to the manager are becoming less and less. It was on talkSPORT this morning how FSG basically have the moneyball approach as they did with the red socks and Klopp was onboard.
How can a manager cast a net over every player available whilst doing their day job, that said I don?t think you ever want the situation where you sign players which the Head Coach expressively says they don?t want, I don?t see that happening at Notts.
