I just can't see Alves being the new gaffer tbh. The owners are really trying to push the self sustainable narrative. You don't become self sustainable, unless you have people coming through the turnstile. It would be a massive risk, and one I'm not so sure the owners would be willing to take at this stage. After Maynard and with the nucleus of a good squad, it feels we are once again at or Williams moment. We need somebody with a bit of charisma, somebody that has the arrogance to say I'm going to come in and take you up.

Can't take the betting odds as any guide at all. My guess would be IF Alves is to be involved he would be the experienced guide for a younger manager.

I agree. I don't know why people are so bothered by the odds tbh. I don't even think Burchnall or Williams appeared on the odds. Notts are pretty good at keeping things secret these days.

I see we now have James Rowberry straight in at 12/1...

Oh please let's have Al (as TPL) as Head Coach. You know it makes sense! I suspect it would be 4-4-2 all the way though

But what experience does he have to guide anyone? I think Football Radar need to back off and leave it to the professionals.

Having said that, Wilshere is back in the frame, and has no real experience as a manager. But I wouldn't be against him, to be fair, at least we might get some press attention.

Having had a second think, I reckon Wilshere would be a risk but one worth taking. After all, he know what good looks like and, with a clean injury free run, he could have been an international mainstay who played with intelligence and commitment. And one of my very favourite non-Notts players so a bit of bias creeping in.

I agree. Definitely a risk in that he has little to no experience, but if you're going to go for an inexperienced and risky coach anyway, he'd be an exciting and interesting choice.

You can't deny his pedigree. He was a fantastic footballer who offered something pretty unique for an English midfielder at that time. Plus, he was managed by one of the greats in Arsene Wenger. He'd certainly command respect based on that alone, in a way that Maynard never could. Great contacts in the game too.

If he were to do well, he'd be off to join a bigger club pretty fast I'd imagine. But that's the nature of the business.
