How do you guarantee not signing anyone who is not good enough?

You need to sign cheap options and you need to sign not cheap options. Unless you are MK Dons. Is Norburn a cheap option too?

I cant accept that its a complete waste of resources if you have a good squad in the first place you dont need this.

Problem with a player like this is he isnt going to play at all and will then be chucked in cold without match practice & i'd say likely not of good enough standard.

As for the "6th tier Afghan international", he's going to be cheap as chips and with Jones and Jatta on international calls ups, will allow us to postpone games on international weekends so we don't have a recurrence of last season when we had to play without Jatta.

That is clever management quite frankly
Very astute. People are ****ting themselves and then downing another pint of prune juice. I don't believe he's gonna be a squad player, I think it's done as you say, to bend the rules slightly. Judge it at the end of the window when we likely have a manager who will in turn have more of a steer and say over his first team/squad players.

How many more players are we going to sign ?

We have no idea when head coach is appointed and we are likely to be speaking to players now so its possible he wont have a steer.

Put another way they really need to pull a few rabbits out the hat.

Well they are fully aware of where the players need to slot in. Players contracts don't effectively run out until the last day in June, so there's no urgency required because you're probs gonna be paying over the odds and start a competitive wages war with agents/other clubs at this point.

Lastly "they" owe us nothing. Their brilliant steering of the club so far should speak for itself, unless you want to back to facing Dorking with Ardley?

They dont owe us anything that is correct I never said they did and why bring Ardley/Dorking into it as nobody wants that obviously.

The steering part was your comment about manager he may not get the chance if we sign most players before he is appointed.

Lets wait and see who they appoint first im hoping its Evatt but that isnt likely.

Ok i ask the question if you are an ambitious up and coming coach or one with an established track record would you take this job on?No say in recruitment ,post january form mid table at best and then losing abbott and didsy ,our two best players .I think Alves would take the job but i cant see anyone else.

This is what worries me. I think the squad already has 20 players in it and we are still woefully short of quality. We do not need any more squad players!!! The next signing has to be a cracker because I'm teetering on the edge of a massive downer regarding our club.

We are battling for 3rd place in my opinion with the likes of Chesterfield and Walsall. McDongs and Bristol Rovers will be the front runners. It will be more difficult than this season and we simply need better players.

I am starting to think that the owners and HOR are of the view that the squad is good enough and just needs deepening. They clearly thought it under achieved under SM , well maybe it did but that squad had Didsy and Abbott .
