Who knows what Port Vale offered Humphreys? We know Stewart plays hard keeping his club in line and not in debt. Money is king at the end of the day but yes, I'm still shaking my head at him going to port Vale.
Thanks Brin but I will respectfully disagree. Upstairs is accountable for the finances but Hamshaw made the quote and for that, he is accountable.

Not being able to convince a 26 year old to stay at the club where he's liked and well respected (by most, at least), when the offer he takes is a 2 year deal at Port Vale, is embarrassing. Even if the money is decent, it's still only a 2 year contract which is risky for a lad who knows what long term injuries are like, and would be at a difficult age to find a good deal if the move doesn't go well.

Might have been a Hamshaw decision not to offer a solid 4 year deal, might have been RS/PD, might have been TS. Pretty sure where my bet would go, pretty sure I could pinpoint the start of his desire to GTFO, and pretty sure we're going to need some minor miracle to find better.

Hopefully the last bit of bad news on the squad front, onward and upwards.

Late text received last night telling me Stewart has cut the wage budget by 2 million, sounds too high that but looking at what we've received so far, two freebies, it may well be true.

Part of that may be due to the fact Evans/Raynor have still yet to be paid off.

Good luck Hammy sounds like you're going to need it!
I don't think paying off Evans and Raynor themselves is the issue but rather having to pay the players they signed on 2 year deals for another year!

Only a rumour from afar but allegedly Taylor is still not fully paid off yet......like I say a rumour so I'll take that with a pinch o' salt. If it's true though then well, that is where the money is still going never mind Hugill/Clarke-Harris.

It is a bewildering move IBS but he can't have had any Championship offers. Only 2 years as well. I'm dying to find out where Oddofin ends up because that could really start to paint a picture of things behind the scenes at the NYS.

I too am gobsmacked at this move. i thought high end league one or relegated champ teams.
I was told last week he wasn't signing but presumed it was for a better offer. Though saying that. It could have been ☹️

Never a championship player that's why he played there for us. Won't miss him but depends who we get in at centre back this season only got Douglas whose fit up to now unproven though.
