When am I ever wrong. 👍
Our start always looked difficult. We've played 4 of the current top 6 and not been 'hammered' in any game.
We've picked up injuries, which may be at fault of the training, or may be bad luck. Nobody has a conclusive answer. The fact is, we've signed 12 players up to now and some of our key players are missing through injury, but each game we have looked better. Barnsley was the best hour of football in 3 years, we played some good stuff but fitness is lacking on players coming back from injury and it meant making subs where we usually wouldn't.
James at fault for the Donny goal, isn't a centre half and is half a foot smaller than the lad who scored. In usual circumstances, we'd have an actual centre back playing. MH will absolutely know that it's a problem playing James there. The only issue I had on Saturday was the lack of proper chances, we came flying out and for the first 20 looked great, Sherif should've squared it when the keeper came out and we'd have possibly be looking at a different result and the complaints would be minimal. My main criticism is our set pieces, we stick by Powell but has he actually put in a decent corner/free kick this season yet?
I'd like to see another defender come in and if we lose anyone, I'd hope we have a replacement lined up to bring in before 9pm tonight, but that could be wishful thinking.
UTM14,far too sensible my friend, you're in the wrong place mate.
Great post.
It’s way too early to be pressing the panic button. Football in general hires and fires too easily and, other than Warney, we are one of the worst culprits. We’re always complaining that there’s no longevity (again, other than Warney) or there isn’t a long-term plan. We’re not even out of August and some are already calling for Hamshaw’s head. It’s unbelievable! Hamshaw is lumbered with too much dross, and it’s going to take some time before we get over the utter shambles of the Evans season.
I was furious straight after Saturday but after calming down I’m more frustrated than angry. With more composure on the ball, we could have had something out of that game. Donny were very well drilled but other than that were nothing special (although the lad that scored looked pretty handy tbf)
Gut feeling, we’re heading for a mid-table finish…maybe bottom half. I’d have taken that at the start of the season. That being the case, there’s going to be some poor performances along the way…individual as well as team…and that includes Hamshaw!
It’s a new squad with a lot of youngsters, and it’s a rookie management team. It’s only the 1st September but I’ve seen enough so far to suggest that Hamshaw deserves a fair crack at it. I saw absolutely nothing of that all last season.
Hamshaw’s appointment felt a bit like we were in a last chance saloon. We have little option but to give him a fair chance – and he hasn’t had that yet. He might ultimately fail but give the man a chance.
