Charlie Kirk, shot and killed for his beliefs. Shouldn't happen, however much you might disagree with him. His thoughts on empathy were interesting and I wonder what he'd make of someone disagreeing with those thoughts feeling empathy towards his friends and family following his death. "Social media" is full of those screaming "it's the way of the left". Rewind to June of this year. Democrat Melissa Hartman and her husband shot and killed for their views. Same month, Democrat John Hoffman shot 9 times and his wife 8 times. Somehow they both survived. Same crap, I disagree with you so you must die. That is so damned wrong.

Generally agree, though this type of political violence has been a factor in USA politics for many decades, e.g. JFK, Martin Luther King and so forth. You have a country full of guns and these things are going to happen.

Its regrettable both in terms of the effect on his family and the fact that this "influencer" will now be made a "martyr" by the right.

They're saying the shot was from 130 metres. The shooter was no amateur, quite the contrary, IMO he'd fall into the "expert" category. If he's a lone wolf then I fully expect him to be caught. If it's a false flag or a foreign to the USA attack then he's probably no longer in the country.

At least have the courage of your convictions man. You’re only being asked to back up what you’ve suggested. Disagreement doesn’t have to be unpleasant, it can be respectful.

Anyway, back on topic. Tbh I’d never heard of this Charlie Kirk chap but I have been to Utah, where he was apparently killed. Absolutely magnificent landscape, weird drinking laws (which the friendly young waiter who served us actually agreed were odd) but possibly most relevant of all, I remember being in the same bar/restaurant where T-shirts were on sale with the logo, ‘You’re in Utah. Imagine everyone is armed!’, emblazoned above an image of a handgun. Tells its own story, live by the gun laws…….

The latest (this week’s) YouGov poll on the subject of voting intentions reveal that Reform are currently in the lead on 27%, followed by Labour - 22%, Tories - 17%, Lib Dems - 15%, Greens - 12%.

A General Election is still maybe four years away and one might expect Labour to have strengthened support by then, but as things currently stand, in very broad terms one could envisage an alliance between Reform and the Tories which would have the backing of about 44% of the electorate and one could equally reasonably expect to see a Labour/LibDem/Green coalition which would currently claim support from around 49% of the electorate.

Apart from possibly increasing the significance of the smaller, specifically Welsh, Scottish and NI, parties where would that leave us?

Reforms share in polls seems to be already diminishing

Probably not helped from their refusal, or even aggressive response to answering probing questions.

The dark horse, and I accepted I'm biased, are the lib dems, because while their overall percentage is lower, the vote is well placed. They do well in seats they are competitive in and very poorly elsewhere. I can forsee Reform actually getting the popular share of the vote but few seats because they finish second in the majority.

What utter *******s! You've been posting crap and then refusing to explain or justify your views for a long time now and this crap that RA in particular has bullied or bored or BS everyone away from the Forum is utter horse****!

For a start, if people don't want to comment or get involved in political debates, the threads are clearly marked and obvious and they can stick to football. Footymad is dying on its arse, there is actual evidence of that on any of the Forum's, but no wait a minute, it must have been myself and RA who have made everybody leave ForestMad for example.

I really do piss myself laughing when you come over all holier than thou and portray yourself as not letting the "entrenched" ahve it their own way!

For a start, your lacking in self awareness here, the only closed mind, entrenched views on this Forum are from you and certain other more openly rabid poster.

Secondly, posting some unsubstantiated anecdotal *******s and then refusing, or as is more likely being unable to back your claims up with a strong argument isn't achieving what you think it is. Your just flailing around trying to be clever, whilst appearing to be rather stupid. Anyone can throw a post in and then claim they aren't bothering to back up what they claim, it either means they have no actual evidence or are, as has frequently been the case with yourself, unable to back up what you claim.

Blaming your inability to be able to argue your case on the basis that RA in particular has been unpleasant (utter nonsense), I'm happy to plead guilty to not actually having much patience with people who demonstrate ignorance and an inability to justify their views and beliefs. I mean there is no compunction on you or anybody to do so, but then don't bother to enter the debate, as I've said often times before, you just demonstrate your true nature and very often make yourself look very silly.

RA and I are very sorry that you feel intimidated by us, but its not our fault you have a simplistic and it seems an entrenched view of life, thats your problem so own it.
