Having worked with folks finances for 2 and a half decades......I know the vast majority of pensioners have it better than youngsters in low paying jobs.

Its actually a wee bit sick that somebody with a much bigger brain than me will have far less opportunity re property, pensions an investment just because I was born right at the sweet spot time.

We should be the Jimmy saville of football clubs and targeting youngsters.
I know you like a dig at pensioners , but their not all on decent money , if you break down the pension into say 37 hour Week , then unless said pensioner get other incomes like Attendance allowance, universal credit etc , then the basic pension is well below minimum wage , and I mean well below it?s about ?7.50 an hour

You can't put out the state pension in terms of hourly rate because it isn't wages earned for labour. In reality it becomes 281.25 for your 37.5 hour week but with no hours worked in return.

State pension is insignificant to many pensioners who have private and other pensions as their main source of income as well as savings to fall back on. Those who don't have that will possibly have additional benefits to make up their living costs. They also likely won't have the expenses that a younger person just starting out might have - mortgage, kids' costs, travel (except two or three holidays per year) etc.

I don't think RRoS digs at pensioners, he just knows how entitled they've become and how they've become much better off than they were back in the day compared to younger working people. Time to stop all over 60/ over 65 concessions and to start applying more concessions to younger people in my opinion. And that's from someone who's getting close to the age to qualify for these.

I know you know what I meant! Pity the make more effort to recruit youngsters was lost. One new young player could bring 6 adults to Dens, immediate family only, plus possible siblings. Surely there's a way to use Dens to showcase our youngsters.

It would be interesting to see how much a person who has survived on our benefit system, without working, receives as pension.
Just interested. Perhaps new recent pensioners have had very different lifetime earnings, so maybe all pensioners are not able to look after themselves in their old age?

I'm getting close to stage pension age Notso

As I've said before when I was 22 and starting oot as an "insurance man"....Mair like boy......I saw a lot of pensioner poverty and the average pensioner I dealt with wasn't flush by any means.

From about 2000 on it began to change, disability, folk retiring from public sector and a bit of downsizing those 8k houses bought with massive discounts now going for 90 to 100k.

Not all pensioners are loaded but very few in the poor house now......

Triple lock for me has to go.....I'd keep it for those on old style state pension who don't get full whack......if it dosent state pension for everybody will go within 20 years.

On football side of things I'd have a loyalty system, 10 years season tics, small discount when pensioner, 20 bigger discount but not as low as pensioners get in now.

Everything should be geared towards young adults, young adults become family adults, become auld adults become pensioners.

A few benefits you get stamp paid so you receive full state pension

If you are a carer or on ESA you get stamp paid as if you had worked.

I stopped work at 46 but have had stamp (contributing year ) paid for me since....so I'll get full state pension......same as someone who has laboured on a construction site for 35 years...,.fair.....very debatable.

P.s when I worked in the bank I'd say an average of 2 or 3 pensioners per week came into transfer tens of thousands into families name so they cud keep free specs and income support and other associated add ons.

Little bit of humour injected every now and then doesn't hurt.
