Many ?modern? managers are very stubborn and refuse to change their system.

And, too many of them, want to play ?the Guardiola way? but alas lack ?the Guardiola players?.

And they are so keen on being ?modern? that they rather stick to a ?modern? system which is failing, then change it. It?s like it nowadays is embarrassing to, sometimes at least, be direct and, heaven forbid, go 4-4-2. Then you?d be labelled as an archaic dinosaur.

A good manager will gauge the body language from the players and noise/frustration from the supporters. The football is absolutely ****e and if Mason does not react accordingly the majority will want him gone and he will certainly know about it!

Absolute dross and let?s hope we have at least ONE attempt tomorrow at mighty Charlton!

The tactics?, I?ve seen little evidence of any tactics, this is from a manager who puts two goalkeepers on the bench, says it all really

It will be interesting tonight Bomber whether there?s any intent? Can?t see it!

I was confused at bringing Dike on at the death, we knew there were only 4 mins added time and Sheff Wed made a sub directly afterwards effectively bringing the match to an end.

2 goalkeepers on the bench is another weird one and surely can only be about giving the 3rd choice goalkeeper the match day experience (but does it in reality?).

Watching the post match interview after the sheff wed match (though I suspect there is more than 1 post match interview?) Mason looked lost and although he said we had moments I don't think he knows how to change it so I suspect more of the same tonight though I do hope Albion put the ball in the net.

We do not have a great quality squad and injuries to Molumby, Collyer and Bany have limited Mason's options in midfield but the bottom line is that we all know that with the players we do have, the performances -and results-should have been better. Doubtless some of this is down to individual players but the root problem is clearly tactics and, by extension, selection.

The aim for this season was to push for a play off position and this was part of the 3 year plan outlined by Nestor and Patel. Continue as we are and we will be lucky to be mid table at best. I'm sure that both performances and results will have been noted by Patel and the pressure on Mason will be mounting from above as well as from fans. If he can show signs of turning things around then they (and we!) may be happy to accept ending up just outside the play offs but they will surely want to keep things on track with the aims of that 3 year plan and not deviate too far from it.

Agree Omeg. My son will be at Charlton tonight even though he can?t stand Mason and his tactics. Hull don?t have a better squad than us in my opinion and they are playing good football with a positive manager. It?s not losing but how you lose! Should the supporters again tonight witness zero attempts at goal?

    It?s laughable

I'm working tonight so will miss the game but really hope that we begin to correct some of the things that we can all see need improving on and at least show more attacking intent, move the ball forward quicker and support in numbers. Hopefully this will make for a far more enjoyable watch for your lad and all the other fans! (Who knows, we may indeed even put the ball in the back of the net too!&#128512

My son won?t be happy being at Charlton and spending all that money if boring Mason?s tactics don?t change! Nobody will be!

Lose tonight then the majority will want Mason out!

Happy to see a change of system but Johnston out is a concern. That said, Johnston has proved excellent from the bench.
