SBRed Match Thoughts Lincoln City v Barnsley

Could be a cracking game this one and one I'm hopeful that we can come away from with at least a point .

We are going to have to be at our best mind , anything less and I don't think we are going to have enough against a very good Lincoln side .

Roll the dice , which Barnsley team will turn up tonight ?

I think its fair to predict another tight affair , Lincoln seem to have our number of late but on the road we usually give a good account , I will take a point now but what ever the outcome is it will be of no great surprise as we are capable of all 3 results , I do believe for Lincoln to beat us they will have to a least score two but against our defence that is no great challenge , we will see.

I’m hoping for a positive result tonight and a good performance as me and the grandson are going! Conor will have options tonight given the good performances of Gent and Farugia and the inclusion of Jalo on Saturday.
No Connell available and I’m not expecting Roberts to be fit, will he play Gent after being out so long and playing 90 odd minutes at Peterborough?

I was reading earlier that Connel has only had 4 bookings therefore he can play , I am also hoping that Roberts is fit and can play, we will see.

I didn’t know Connell wasn’t suspended, he is now for Saturday cos he was booked tonight!
I’ve just got back from Lincoln and listened to Connor’s post match comments which frankly was a total load of ballax!
He says the crowd was flat 1st half? NO they weren’t the reds fans started singing from the off, but went off the boil due to the fact that we just kept giving the ball to Lincoln through constant miss placed passes! They just could not find a black shirt, every time we got in and around their box it was just sloppy as hell.
Yoganathan was terrible 1st half, poncing around like a show pony, not tracking back, not putting tackles in when he could and not keeping up with play.
Phillips was diabolical, you would have thought he was playing for Lincoln the amount of times he passed to their players.
Only Cleary and Farugia when he came on played ok, the rest were total toss! Even DKD trying to run through 2 or 3 players rather than passing or taking an earlier shot was poor tonight and he scored!
Connell was ok till he got booked then every pass was either miss placed or backwards, 1st half he picked the ball up ran at their defence, he had options left and right but chose to dive on the edge of the box, so the greedy sod could try and recreate the goal against Luton and he was rightly booked!
Less said about the defence the better! They played like they had never met, our fans started to sing - sideways and backward when we’re away, sideways and backwards when we’re away, to the tune of - Rotterdam or anywhere, Liverpool or Rome! That’s how bad it was watching that lot tonight! No wonder we went quiet.
We did attack a lot better 2nd half but after we equalised the whole team just went to sleep, Lincoln’s 2nd and 3rd goals were comical, which led to an exodus of reds fans.
This is the first time I’ve felt like this about Conor, but if he continues with these tactics away from home, he will start to lose the fans and end up out of a job!

Not a great result or performance , too much fannying around at the back for me , i really don't know why Hourihane thinks these players can play from the back because most of em struggle to defend properly never mind anything else .

On Hourihane's postion I'll say this , if you employ a rookie HC then you give him a good go in my opinion and give him at least a couple of season's to learn and put his own stamp on things , something we haven't had for many a long year .

I don't dispute Hourihane makes some puzzling decisions but that comes with inexperience and that's what we hired so it's only right he gets the time to get things right .
