Absolutely - Elanga was a gamble in my opinion. Players can have a remarkable single season sometimes, but can he reproduce what he did at Forest?

I have more faith in Ramsey coming good at some point, to be honest. Hope I'm wrong about them and they will go on to have great careers!

I don't doubt that Elanga will come good. He was a really highly rated player in the filth academy. He left to Forest due to the disarray at the swamp.

He's got a lot of potential and is only 23. I get the feeling that, like Ramsey, he's trying too hard. Trying to do things too quickly and needs to relax into the role. The expectations of Newcastle United are far higher than Forest. There is a real pressure for positions in the squad and it's different from Forest where Elanga was nailed on to start on the right under Nuno.

He'll never be Ronaldinho, that kind of player with the close control, its not his game. He's not that kind of a winger.

However, he's still a decent player who's shown that he is capable of contributing goals and assists at the Premier League level. At his age, there he has scope develop into a much better player than current showings.

With Murph in his 30s, We'll see another right winger brought in. Rayan Vitor the young Brazilian striker from Vasco players off the right, left foot dominant.

Reports have stated that the club are aggressive in their pursuit of 21 yr old Allan Elias from Palmeiras
    https://www.transfermarkt.com/allan/...pieler/1082631

Allan, also plays right midfield but is primarily a No.10. Again like Rayan, he's left footed, something we don't have in the squad apart from BDB and Hall, none of the attacking or midfield players have a left peg. If the finances make sense signing them both would be great.

    From the January post

    IN

Rayan Vitor - Vasco de Gama
    Kees Smit - AZ Alkmaar
Abdelhamid Ait Boudlal - Stade Rennais
Oscar Mingueza - Celta de Vigo

    OUT
    Krafth, Willock, Osula.

Bringing in Allan and Rayan would be great. I does appear that Smit will go for around 50m Euro and the Euro cartel are all in for him. He'll no doubt make a bad decision and go ruin his career at Chelsea or sit on the bench for 3 yrs at Madrid. However, it would be excellent to get Smit in with the two Brazilian youngsters.

I thought Elanga had his best game yet at the weekend… that said, it was Burnley. All due respect he should be causing teams in the bottom half trouble, and in all fairness to them they have it a proper go… and nearly snatched a point at the death… but that means there was space to run into… but his delivery was much better, and that’s regardless of opposition… so fingers crossed.

I think Ramsey will come good, as much as I thought Willock had a decent game at the weekend that’s his best… Ramsey had a much higher ceiling (imo) but he needs to be playing in a more solid midfield to really showcase his talent… it was his injury prone history not his ability that I questioned when we signed him… but is he falling foul of Eddie’s reluctance to not play his favourite/probably strongest midfield whenever possible? That’s changed recently… but for me it should be out of Bruno/Big Joe/Tonali and Ramsey/Miley coming in… Willock is way out third for me… and out of contract in the summer I think (maybe we are window dressing him?)

On the subject of selecting midfielders… how the f**k did we let Anderson go?

He’s showing he’s a top midfielder, but going back Howe was choosing Longstaff over Tonali in that spot even… Anderson didn’t get a look in really… that raises big questions when we see what he is capable of for me… imagine if we had him rotating with Tonali on a regular basis?

Cos we were being ****ed by PSR and risked a points deduction if we didn't balance the books.

But yes, I agree with you in what your saying about how he's come ****ing amazing.

Personally I think Wissa for 55 mill at 29yo is more of a concern than Elanga and Ramsey.

    Yep.

Having said that, we were in an absolute bind and had little choice. Let's just be grateful that we din't pay the 55 mil we offered Wolves for Strand Larsen.

If Wissa can stay fit for the rest of his top career, say 3-4 seasons, then the additional goals he could put in could really take us places.

Look back at the end of his days here and value his goals and then make decision.

Clearly we need to bring in some reinforcements in Jan.

With BDB out for months, a full back is a must and we'll need to get Botman back to fitness.

I would like to see the club pull the trigger on the:

Abdelhamid Ait Boudlal - Stade Rennais
Oscar Mingueza - Celta de Vigo

A quality young CB & a much needed quality fullback.

The Brazilian season is over. @Topperz, you're in Brazil right? They play a nuts 2 part season don't they? Some bizarre regional competition and then a KO or something? How does that work???

Rayan Vitor - Vasco de Gama

and a few of the other Brazilian targets would be smart buys in Jan.

Pulling off the signing of Kees Smit - AZ Alkmaar would be a major coup in Jan too!

Also add much needed guile, drive and technical quality to our midfield.

They play a lot of football - even more than europe. It starts with the State Championships, so all teams big and small in every state in the country play to be champions (various formats, depending on the state). Then starts the Brasileir?o (Brazilian Championship), Copa do Brasil and Libertadores (and Copa Sul Americana - equivalent to Europa League).
Flamengo (whove almost won the lot) season finishes tomorrow playing PSG in the final of the Intercontinental cup.
Vasco have the 2 leg final of the Copa do Brasil to play v Corinthians yet this wedk.

Of course there are loads of class players here but many dont transfer well to Europe so Im often reluctant to give opinions. For example, Igor Jesus was class at Botofogo but has been just OK at Forest do far.

Thanks for the info mate. I wasn't sure how it all worked. I knew it was like a 2 part season. Interesting that the regional minnows get a shot at the big boys. Would be quality to buy one of those smaller clubs and do a bit of Giant killing! haha

What are your thoughts of the Brazilian lads we have been linked with?
