MillersMad Match Thread...Millers v Peterborough United

It is back to home comforts for our first game of 2026. Let's meet our guests, Peterborough United.

    The Boss
Men with bald heads and beards usually make good football managers and Luke Williams is no exception to this rule. He is the former manager of Notts County and led them to promotion from the National League via the play-offs, after they finished runners up to Wrexham in 2023.

Appointed boss at London Road on 29th October 2025, Williams appears to have had a positive impact. Upon his arrival, Posh were firmly at the bottom of the table. They're now 14th and very much on an upward trajectory.

    Who to watch
Harry Leonard is the current top scorer for Posh right now with 8 goals. The 22 year old striker was signed from Blackburn Rovers in the summer for an undisclosed fee. The fee is rumoured to have been in the region of 1 million.

    Jimmy-Jay Morgan
The 19 year old attacking midfielder is currently on loan from Chelsea. He has represented England at U16, U17 and U18 level. He has six goals to his name for Peterborough so far this season.

    Summary
After a dismal start to the season (which ultimately cost Darren Ferguson his job) Peterborough have recovered well. According to the form tables, based on the last 10 games, Peterborough are 5th and we're 21st. Interestingly, Luke Williams has been in charge for 9 of those games which underlines the impact he's had at the club since his arrival.

To say things aren't going great for us right now would be a bit of an understatement but we need to remember that we're only halfway through the season and there are plenty of points still to be had. However we really need to stop the rot in this game and change our current direction of travel. We need to be on the front foot from the first whistle because if we aren't, you know exactly what will happen, the crowd will be booing every misplaced pass and the atmosphere will become toxic.

It will be far from easy though because as I said, Peterborough are on a good run of form. Most recently, they are unbeaten in five games, four of which were wins. Whereas our form offers a particularly grim contrast, currently showing as LLLLL.

It's good news about Baptiste's red card being rescinded and it will be even better news if Sam Nombe's name is on that team sheet. We can only hope because if that's the case, we might actually score a goal!

    Enjoy the game everyone. UTM.

Duncan what's happened with him? Can't be no worse than Yearwood & Etete. Shove him upfront who else we got?

Only a win, or a fighting point will keep MH in a job. Has he got the gumption to put out a side that will fight?

We need a win and a decent performance, we need to see MH is understanding the flaws in his approach and tactics. Same for the 4th. A minimum of 4 points are needed from these two games and we need to stop conceding goals, that is a high priority
