Interesting to see Greens are odds on favourites to win the by election in Gorton and Denley, and more surprisingly Labour overtaking Reform as favourites to win the next election.

Think we all accept Farage is thin skinned as proven by his refusal to answer probing questions.

Refuses to even acknowledge the journalist asking the questions. Think also a degree of his misogynistic attitude showing too which its accepted he is.

    Is that an admission, AF?

Seriously though. A large proportion of what we say, repeat and feel is built on anecdote. There’s no reason to suspect that Swale’s is in anyway invented, although it is, of course, just a single, optimistic example.

As regards Sith’s information about the forthcoming Denton and Gorton by-election and the next GE, I really do hope, with every fibre of my being, that it is built on something more substantial than mere anecdote. Would love it to be true.

    No, its just an observation

There’s as much reason to believe Swales anecdote(s) as there is mine, yet you repeatedly fail to believe mine, preferring to soak up and comment on any that support your POV. There have been a number, not hundreds but scores, on here that you’ve agreed with that are nothing more than repeats of social media urban myths, I’ve kept my council for the sake of not embarrassing people but maybe not in future.

Re the last point, I’m less bothered than you because I don’t let politics affect my life - not a criticism, just a sign we’re different. Sith is incidentally correct per current bookie odds

Oh dear, really didn’t want to revisit this. It was just a bit of banter.

The difference is…in your two anecdotes of long ago - questionable passport and the strange case of the Etwall flagpole hijacks - you, by your own eventual admission, had exaggerated greatly. There is no reason to suspect that Swale, or his original account giver, has.

Honestly haven’t a clue what urban myths or embarrassment you’re talking about. Feel free to explain, preferably without getting cross because we’ve been okay recently. Delighted that the bookies support Sith’s theory. Long may it last.

P.S. Like it or not, politics affects everyone’s life.

Not true in either case and to avoid a repeat to ping pong posting I?m happy to accept you?re right if you can pull up the pertinent posts

I can?t be any clearer on you believing urban myth anecdotes, sorry

Affect was the wrong word. Substitute dominate

Not going back over all that, Andy. It’s done. Those who were interested will remember, but to resurrect it would be both tedious and boring.

Still no idea about your urban myths, especially me believing them. Not for the first time it’s impossible to argue with someone who won’t explain themselves. Your call.

For someone who doesn’t let politics dominate their life you have an awful lot to say on the subject. Doesn’t dominate mine either. Just one of a number of interests. By no means the most enjoyable, far from it, but because it affects us all, probably one of the most important, especially in the current climate.

    Fact.

Reform voted against legislation to help protect women and girls.

Reform voted against legislation to improve the lot of workers.

Farage has said he'll stop people working from home if he gets in.

    Opinion.
They're a nasty bunch who are in it for themselves and those backing them financially so, basically, they are like 99% (approx) of politicians. Having found out that my right to vote in UK elections was restored a few years back, I have decided not to use it as there isn't a party that I feel I can support. The Blue Tories were always a no no. The Red Ones were my choice when they genuinely represented the working class and the poor but they no longer do that. The Turquoise Tories seem to represent even more of things I dislike then the Blue variety. LibDems I don't take seriously. Greens appear to be as seasonal as nature and change as often. Restore seems as unlikeable as Turquoise. No Monster Raving Lunatic candidate in my neck of the woods so I'll refrain.

    Good summary!

Just as a matter of interest, do you have the ability to ?spoil your ballot? from overseas, and if you were in UK would you do so, or just not turn out?

Beyond that, you may disagree with the Greens as much as the EDL - albeit for entirely different reasons - but the two leaders are hardly on the same scale as far as ‘menace’ is concerned are they? Only one has found fame and relative fortune out of peddling hatred.
Actually this is the reason Polanski changed his surname.

His surname – Polanski – goes back to his family’s roots. In the early 20th century, his family, who were Jews, escaped from Latvian pogroms via Ukraine and Poland. On arriving in Britain, they anglicised “Polanski”, becoming Paulden, because of the anti-Semitism they faced. Polanski told me he’d originally believed his family had changed their name because of anti-Semitism in Latvia, not the UK.

Thats quite a common reason for a name change, especially so in the US where many immigrants/refugees angliscised thier names to "fit in".

How does that in any way equates to Yaxley-Lennon, who has had 5 different alias's, for reasons which are clearly dubious?
