    Mozza - Managerial Credentials

He has undoubtedly proved himself capable of bringing the best out of our squad and clearly engendered the spirit and commitment we wish to see. Last night it was evident that everyone gave 100% with a tremendous team spirit and rapport with the crowd.

In my opinion, if Mozza wants the Head Coach role, he should, at the least, be told that he will be invited to throw his hat in the ring.

Substitutions - lack of - are an issue for me, but I understand some reluctance given the bench options. Sule pleasantly surprised me ! Mozza needs some support in his substitution thinking.

Bostock for Price may have been an option, but to be fair Price r an himself into the ground (as they all did)

    Nice on Mozza.

We have been superb since he took over. I cant see how another manager can take over a side someone else has galvanised and make that work.

In terms of the subs, we actually grew in the game without making subs. We also seem to be cutting out the mistakes at the end of games since he has been making less subs. This i think speaks to the lack of quality on the bench.

I think he has been quite wise not bringing on kids at the minute.

Even though he?s done a great job with a bunch of seriel no hopers, I feel a total clear out is needed, players and coaching staff, a total reset, goodbye to the likes of Wildsmith, Gilchrist, Mepham, Dike, Maja, Heggebo, Mowatt, Taylor, Price, Griffiths and Wallace, plus the coaching staff that have been there too long, next season is the ideal opportunity for a total reset

Who from the coaching staff would you get rid of and what have they done individually for you to suggest they should be chopped?

I would get rid of all of them and start a fresh, just because Morrison has raised the bar it doesn?t mean to say everything is fine, we?ve had our fair share of dross playing and coaching wise over the last few seasons, it?s time for a mega clear out otherwise I feel we?ll just plod on going from one crisis to the next

If Morrison was so much a part of the problem with us under Corberan, Mowbray, Mason and Ramsay, then how come he has got an even more limited squad playing as they are now?

Very difficult to comment with too much accuracy without seeing what was happening in pre/ post match discussions and planning or being on the training ground but I'd be more inclined to blame the club's game model and desire to adhere to it and the previous incumbents than Morrison and the coaching staff for our previous poor performances. Poor recruitment hasn't helped either of course, nor the financial pressures that saw us sell Palmer, Heggem and Fellows.

Curtis Davies made the point that -assuming we do avoid relegation-next year will very much depend on the choices the club makes and monies available. Do we have the finances to purchase proven Championship players and engage a proven Championship manager to aim for play offs next season or do we see it as more of a long term project rebuild which might suit Morrison better? Moreover, does Mozza himself want the job? Prior to this, he didn't seem over keen to take it on permanently but if we survive and continue to improve as we have done over recent games then his own confidence will have grown and he may reconsider.

I get why many might want an "experienced" manager with proven successes for next season but, in all seriousness, does any one genuinely think that such a manager could have achieved any better with this group of players than Morrison has done since he has taken over?

Totally agree with you Bomber and a group in the pub at Blackburn all said the same. A complete clear out needed. I remember many gushing about Big Dave who was clueless overall in his managerial reign and the Port Vale supporters could not wait to see the back of him. Great guy though!

Skubala for me and a manager with a fresh vision who plays young classy players which is why Sunderland have been so successful.

Sule would be better than Heggebo as he?s got great quick feet. Just needs balls to play a youngster like some other managers. How can you say experience or lack of it - what has Heggebo done in recent matches? Nothing!

Mason did well at first so a manager needs to be judged over 20 odd games. Morrison is doing a good job but still the awful sideways and backward passing. That?s not the quality of player but the coaching evident since CC days, Morrison too loyal to certain players and what next Jed here next season FFS. 25K a week - legs gone - injury prone - but hey he?s a good Pro 😭😭

Big clear out and a fresh vision and no mistakes not learnt from the Big Dave appointment who overall his management career has been poor! Nice chap though!

I was pleased to see Sule brought on last night, doubtless because we were creating openings and chances and, given Sule's recent goal scoring ability, Morrison clearly thought he would stand a better chance of converting them than our other forwards. That said, I doubt very much that Sule possesses the physicality of either Heggabo or Dike, for example, which is needed for other important aspects of the role such as hold up play.

It is abundantly clear that we lack quality in the final third and I agree that if we can continue to create opportunities then Sule should get more chances on the pitch to prove that he can convert them. I also think that Bostock should get his chances given the too consistently poor end products of Price. Would I start either ahead of more experienced players when we are in the midst of a relegation battle though? Certainly, I would like to see them brought on if the game was going our way and their pace and ability might break the deadlock and get us goals but given their inexperience at this level I wouldn't trust them to have the right qualities for a dog fight yet.

Wise words Omeg. Where is all the money going to come from to have a wholesale clear out. Speaking to some fans last night most were minded to give Morrison the opportunity if, as you say, want the job.

Players will obviously go at the seasons end and we will need to replace wisely. As you say recruitment has not been a strong point for some time now.

There are some who constantly put players down and then do the same to the coaches. The squad is not huge and we do have some in it that perhaps are not up to getting us promoted automatically or even the playoffs.

What I do not see is the need for wholesale changes. What if those changes do not work, financially it would be a risk to make that choice.

We needed stability and that is what Morrison has provided us with to date. Careful planning will be required in the recruitment area, that however may be on hold or require a plan B if we find ourselves in the third tier (Lets hope not).

Patience is required right now, not panic in the hope of something near success. Success though need to be measured and expectations managed. Unfortunately many Baggies do not see that and crave instant success.
