A fullback who is comfortable using both feet , like every pro should .
Well done Alfie on your award .
Very well deserved award from what I've read about young Alfie. Here's hoping for further progression from him and others.
An acquaintance of mine used to be involved in the youth team and give me intel on who was good. He isnt there anymore but knows some people who are.
He told me a few weeks back that this kid was meant to be good and coaches raved about him.
Think we have seen the last of villa taking our top youngsters .
The ex Albion youth manager who went to the villa , wouldn't know our new crop of players like he did with the players who left .
Got to be carefull of what to say , but you can guess of what might have happend .
Most of the players are gone before making their senior debut because fantastic teams can spot talent more than us. Morgan Rogers who is now one of the best players in the country made his senior appearance under caretaker manager Jimmy Shan in an FA Cup fourth-round replay in 2019.
Strikers in terms of damn good strikers are hard to come by and we have not had one since the days of Gayle. I predict Sule will be gone very soon as like Rogers a good team will spot his huge potential. Unlike Heggebo he?s got great feet. Five million almost FFS 😂
In a no nothing match on Saturday you can bet Morrison will play Dike or Maja before Sule who must likely will be out the door! I remember Morrison played Grady FFS v Luton in the last game last season with nothing to play for and for FFS - he was leaving!
One of my reservations with Morrison is over young player development v loyalty to old crocs like Wallace who should be gone! Not interested in good pros at 25K a week who frequent treatment rooms but very interested in young talent for the future!
Morgan Rogers is from a family of Albion fans, who had season tickets in the Smethwick .
He did good for us signining a contract , which enabled us to get ?4m from man city . I sure villa were sniffing around before he signed our contract .
Morrison has worked with a lot of our younsters he must know them inside out , he should know they are ready.
If think because of pressure to stay up , it was probably to keep them involved and on the bench.
I think if we had been safe in mid table, he would have took more risks .
Tom Fellows was in and out the Southend side and he suprised me when he got in our Ist team .
Watching him in the 18s and 21s there was others above him that stood out .
Cleary was one of the best finisher's I've seen for a long time , but to me was lazy and they said his attitude wasn't the best , but he has gone on to be a hard working wing back .
Can see Sule breaking through next season .
I still think the old system was better, with old central league , when the young uns played with a against pro's .
I remember Bomber and Bobby Hope as 16 years, getting battered by big old pro's .
Football was brutal in those days.
Good post Lloyd. I won?t think much of Morrison on Saturday if youngsters don?t get valuable minutes over players who should be out the door. No sentiment from me on Dike and Wallace - both are on huge salaries - slow - past it and too injury prone so got to go.
The match on Saturday is irrelevant and means nothing so playing those who will be here next season is plain common sense.
Good teams can spot talent in the academies. Morgan must be worth about 70 million plus now!
Yeah I read that about Rogers. The money we gained from the sale paid for Bilics heavy contract and the rest is history.
I used to think Edwards was going to be the real deal. He had everything you wanted from a winger. He has just drifted as a footballer unfortunately. Harper was also really talented but playing league 2 now. If you would have told me both would have been lower league players, at the time I would have been shocked.
I suppose you imagine every player will naturally get better because they are young but it doesnt always work out like that.
Villa have poached a couple of lads by offering them really high wages for their age. Finn Azaz and Irongebum come to mind. Both are good players but left for money not footballing reasons and they have done ok.
Loans are fantastic development. The chance to play regularly against adults at a slightly lower level and grow. Fellows was a shadow of the player we have now before that loan to league 2. I thought Whitwell would have had more games since returning but it hasnt worked out yet. A loan to league 1 next season is on the cards I reckon.
