Maybe so but as you know we actually went backwards and at some pace when we had Dennis in our squad. People can put that down to our former manager obviously but we aren't alone in that statement.

    Plus he didn't come cheap.

Its not surprising that we went backwards with the likes of Oxlaid Chamberlain, Bakayogo, Kellett , Crawford and Fitzsimons in the squad..

Very true although if memory serves me right only Fitzsimmons played any number of games in the decline.

Ahhhh the recent pre-#radar days of recruitment.

I have just watched the 2 awful goals they scored and watched us peppering their goal with nothing more than a few speculative strikes from the edge of the box in the highlights. How many games have we now lost to awful goals like this where we get out muscled at set pieces by some big fella who shoe horns it into the onion bag any which way but loose? The mind boggles. Maybe Notts County Stats nice person can compile a list and send it to Brothers Reedtz. There seems to be at least one game a month like this. Awful.

The only stat that should matter is whether we win or lose. There is too much emphasis on meaningless stats. We have all known for the last 3 seasons that we concede from set pieces and crosses into the box. Also, we have more possession than the opposition, but we still lose.. So whats the point..

Not at all, each to their own QP. I enjoy playing around with data and stats, others don't. it's like the O/T or handbags threads, if you've no interest in them don't read them.

Data has its place and used in combination with experience of a sport / product is the way forward, however solely relying on data can lead you down a path that can give you a false impression, and ultimately (says again) 'you can have all the data in the world but if the end user isn't talented enough to adapt to what's being shown then you have no chance'.

Interesting point about the crosses and set pieces, do we still have the specialist coach on board?

Yes, Alex Clapham. He is the set piece coach, nothing to do with crosses. To be fair, Eastleigh set piece goal excluded, our record of both attacking and defending set pieces since he came on board has been pretty good. We've actually scored 5 goals from set pieces so far this season and 4 of those were corners. I remember a time when we couldn't even clear the first man from a corner never mind score from them.
