Ursula von der Leyen who at present is President of the European Commission had a right cheek demanding that they would dictate the import of Covid-19 vaccine into Northern Ireland.
It is not our fault that the two French vaccines backed by the EU had failed to materialise.
Typical of the French.
Last Friday evening President Macron to deflect that the French vaccine was a failure made the wrong claim that the
AstraZeneca vaccine was “almost ineffective” on people aged over 65.
I hope that the management of Astra Zeneca sue Macron for defamation of their vaccine.
Fortunately Boris Johnston and the rest of his team were prepared to stand up the bully boy tactics of Ms von der Leyen’ and told her to ‘take.a hike’.
It transpires that Ms von der Lyden had made her decision without checking the rules of the Good Friday agreement or speaking to the Irish Prime Minister. Unbelievable even by EU standards.
Eventually Ms von der Leyen backed down and admitted that she had made a mistake.
Thank goodness the U.K. has left the EU otherwise we would have been expected to hand over our Astra Zeneca vaccine because of French incompetence.
Well Done Boris.
If it happens again Boris should give the European Commission leaders the ‘Harvey Smith’ salute!
